Man, the world is upside down. As a kid, there were nerds, and there were jocks, and the line was clear lol. First there was NBA Hall of Famer Tim Duncan, and now jocks and other "manly men" celebs like Terry Crews, Joe Manganiello, The Rock, and Henry Cavill all play and are proud of it.
🤷
😂
Yep. Not to mention all the wrestlers who play, and I remember a famous NBA player but I can’t recall who it was.

But I knew nerdy jocks back in high school in the early 2000’s, so it’s been coming a while now.

Same. Most of my gaming group in the eighties were in one or more high school sports, almost all at a high level too. Soccer, football, baseball, track, golf, and basketball were all represented.

Most of us were in also in band, though I don't think we had any choir members.
In my high school, the RPG players were also in JROTC.

I never served in the military, but starting in the late 90s and early 2000s I began to realize D&D was more popular in the military than I realized based on the veterans I played with. My take was D&D has its roots in tactical wargaming which appealed to military people.
