D&D players, tell me about your HARP games

Sorry Rasyr, re-reading the rules now, first game in a few weeks. (yeah, you guys got me to look at it again :D).

So I have nothing to add except "Yup, Sounds right, uHuH..."
That's all I ever ask, is that you give it a shot. IMO, for some people HARP plays much better than it reads, and really does need a decent play session to give it a fair shot, and that is all I ever ask - that you give it a fair shot.

I have already commented on combat, but I also like the how flexible the system is for character generation. There are a bunch of classes, all classes can cast spells if they want, and you can mix and match all the various greater and lesser bloods to come up with and race mix you want. All the classes being able to cast spells is my favorite part and one of the reasons I like the Hinterwelt Enterprises Iridium system as well.

Yes, all professions in HARP may cast spells, however, it is important to note that all professions may not cast all spells normally. All professions have access only to one list of spells. This one list is known as the Universal Sphere.

Additionally there are several other lists of spells, also called Spheres, that may only be cast by the associated profession. Now, there are ways to gain access to those special spheres, either through a talent or through taking multiple professions.

As far as which setting I am using the same setting that I have been running since 1993 with a few modifications,

As to another poseters question comment regarding Arms LAw & Harp that is exactly what we are doing so as to get a grittier more realistic combat.

Magic is vastly supperior then just about every other system I have run into, being able to scale up a spells effect based on how good you are in that spell is an excellent idea and of course I have also been a sucker for a mana/spell point system.
