NJ Man to Face Triple-Murder Charges in Montco

by KYW's Brad Segall

A South Jersey man is being jailed without bail in Montgomery County, Pa. on charges that he stabbed three people to death last Friday in King of Prussia.

In addition to facing first-degree murder charges in the stabbing deaths of Lisa Greaves, her sister Heather, and Heather’s three-year-old daughter, district attorney Bruce Castor says John Eichinger will also be charged with the 1999 murder of Jennifer Still of Bridgeport (Montgomery County), Pa.

Castor (below right) says the motive appears to be jealousy, but they are also looking into some sort of connection with the fantasy role-playing game ”Dungeons and Dragons”:

"I mean, you have many, many stab wounds and those 'Dungeons and Dragons' fantasy games involve swords and knives and daggers and things of that nature. There may be a connection but I can’t say for sure.”

He says it appears they were all part of the same circle of acquaintances. Castor hopes to prosecute all four murders at one time, and says he will seek the death penalty for Eichinger.

It's possible.

I mean, it's possible this guy's murder spree was triggered by his fascination with D&D. Wouldn't mean D&D is responsible though.

Speaking as a Philly native, I can tell you that it's not really being trumped up all that much, KYW's report notwithstanding. The Metro newspaper had no mention of that aspect, nor does Philly.com, the online version of the two big philly newspapers.

You can read a different account here, sans D&D hysteria. KYW-TV, the radio stations sister-affiliate, is trying to play up the internet angle, sans D&D. NBC isn't even really covering the story, while WPVI-ABC is more focused on the latest tsunami, and relegating the story to an update, and again, no D&D.

Frankly, it's just some irresponsible jackass talking to get in the press and apparently not even succeeding that well at that.

And for the record, this guy's killing spree was initiated because he couldn't handle dealing with women. Period. He was a stalker and a murderer, from initial reports. I'm not even sure how you could see D&D as being involved, other than that he might have owned the game, although there's no indication anywhere that this is the case, yet.

As another Philly resident, I can tell you that KYW is only worth listening to for the traffic reports, and their bizarre financial commentator; Fred Sherrrrrrrrrman...

Sounds like this Castor fellow has an axe to grind.

Perhaps he should investigate a Black Sabbath connection. Or something equally as timely.

Heh. Fred Sherrrrmannn. I love that guy. I wish Mark Drucker was still around, though. He was the only other thing worth hearing on KYW.

That's completely fallacious. So.....because he plays D&D he's likely to stab people? I guess they should check with all murderers or attempted murderers who used a knife as their weapon of choice and see whether they play D&D.

IMO, that's irresponsible reporting. Until they've actually been able to demonstrate a link, it shouldn't even be coming up.

Yes, sure, I think D&D is responsible.

I also think that guns kill people, keaborts mispel worts and alcohol makes people drive drunk.
