So it might be like a Feat, Skill, Mundane Equipment, and maybe Base Class compilation from various Complete books and other sources?

Maybe they should do a Monster compendium that collects up monsters from various non-Monster-Manual sources...
If they do this and add spells and some of the better PrCs to that book, it would be amazing, kind-of "New Core"... I'd buy it without hesitation.

I'd really love a book with a "Best-of" of the Complete Series.

If this isn't a sign that 3E's got some problems, I don't know what is.

Maybe this is a Rules Cyclopedia book like you were querying the board about not too long ago?

Or were you just doing some market research for WotC? ;)

To me, "Rules Compendium" sounds like a Rules Cyclopedia-like version of 3.5. If it is, I will almost certainly buy it. I love the Rules Cyclopedia.

I rather doubt that this is what the Rules Compendium is going to be...but I'd love it if it were. I'd really love to see a 'skimmed-down' version of 3.5 with all the miniatures-dependent chaff thrown by the wayside and organized a la the old Basic D&D Rules Cyclopedia (that is to say, basic rules, classes, spells, monsters, etc. with just enough of a setting tacked on to make a complete game in one book); but, again, I doubt it.

Regards,
Darrell King

I have a sneaking suspicion that this is the long-awaited Feat Compendium, but it also has the extra uses of Skills, and a few other new rules from various sources.

I have around 50 3.5e books. It'd be very nice to have the important things in one place.

Cheers!

I don't think so.

I think that a Feat Compendium could be done up in a 192 page or 244 page book in and of itself thanks to the dozens of books out there.

And Feat Compendium certainly sounds better than 'Rules' Compendium. At least in my opinion.

I think they would lose a good number of sales for those products if 4E were announced prior to their release and sell-through quarter. I think each new product such as this pushes back the expectation of the announcement and release of the inevitible 4E.
I tend to agree with Mark on this one. Why put something like this out only to have it made redundent in a matter of months or a year?

I think there is way to many people running around saying "Oh no, the Huns of 4th Ed are beating down the doors."

4th Ed is coming, but not for a good amount of time IMHO.

Yeah, you're probably right. The page count works against it.

I *really* don't see it as a sign of 4e, though. (I see 4e as being its own beast, slouching away in the corner).

Cheers!

Well, the Spell Compendium did not have every spell.

Maybe it's a compendium of selected rules (feats, base classes, etc.) from non-core sources combined into one book updated/improved to reflect in-play experiences.

Ugh, Dragons of Faerun embodies everything that I find crappy about the current state of the realms - nit picking minutia. I seriously hope this is a more abstract book than that stupid thing, as Eberron doesnt need every single inhabitant statted out.

My guess is that this is the hinted "Argonnessen book." They probably decided to make it more useful and decided to add non-Argonnessen dragon info (the Chamber's actions, etc). After all, Argonnessen is supposed to be epic level territory.
