On the other hand, I think a Survivor thread on editions (which I fully support) would work best if the rule is you can only vote - not comment.

That would certainly help...but making it work, and making it fun, are two different goals that would have to be met simultaneously. A lot of the fun of these "Survivor" threads is the banter and discourse. Also, I worry that there are folks who would actively oppose one or both of those goals when they discover their opinions aren't shared by someone else. We've seen it time and again: there really are people who can't stand it when folks disagree with them, and they will fight to stop it by any means necessary.

I still haven't made my mind up yet about it. I think it would be interesting to see which edition wins, but I'm not sure I want to deal with the drama. (sigh) Stay tuned, I guess?

I've found that the trick to enjoying this game, is to have more than one favorite. That way, I don't get too salty when folks downvote the obvious best option. I'm happy to note that 4 of my 6 favorites are headed into the Top Ten.
