D&D General D&D Survivor - Dungeon Masters: Matt Mercer Wins!

Funny, I mostly know him just from his days submitting to and then editing Dungeon and tended to not like his scenarios that much back then. I had a letter published in the late 90s in either Dragon or Dungeon - don't remember now - which I signed as "The Anti-Perkins" :ROFLMAO: I don't even remember the content of the letter! (probably embarrassing). I wish I could find it.
He’s credited on Shackled City so he gets major kudos for that. I quite like his adventures to be honest and his editing tenure included the last few years of AD&D and a good part of 3e. Those early 3e dungeon magazines were awesome. Particularly the Robin of Sherwood launch edition. I remember thinking that was really brave. CPs time as editor was when I started subscribing so I remember them really fondly. Maybe a bit of nostalgia on my part.

Maybe a bit of nostalgia on my part.
Or anti-nostalgia on mine. I really have no memory of why I objected to his adventures, only that I was both down on them and used a bunch of them! 🤷‍♀️ Heck, I began my current Ghosts of Saltmarsh+ 5E campaign with a 2E adventure of his, "A Wizard's Fate"

You’d think, but nah. Welcome to the internet. Where you will be mobbed and dog piled unless you ritually genuflect with the phrase “in my opinion” or “but other playstyles are valid, too”.
I agree that all this should go without saying, but to be fair: lots of people on the internet (and Earth) have trouble distinguishing between facts and opinions. Clarification for the reader (and reminders for the writer) can be quite helpful.

I don't like the idea of voting someone down just because they're high, but it seems to be how the game is played.
There's also a tactic where you will downvote a high-scoring favorite so that it flies just below the radar of people who might want to target the highest-scoring options. In theory, using a single downvote to keep it from getting attacked by multiple downvotes.

I mean, so I've heard. I don't know anyone who might use such a tactic. (whistles, walks away)

Sorry if this has already been answered, it's a long thread.

Is there any record of Dave Arneson running a game?

I've seen interviews etc. but not anything of him DMing.

I know that he has been a DM at several convention tables over the years (GenCon especially), back in the early 80s. They wouldn't be recorded gaming sessions, but there might be some articles and interviews floating around. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find any links.
