D&D Withdrawl.. how do you deal with it?

Had a great session last night, we were 1 person down so our DM put together a small mini adventure which we didn't complete but was very cool and well put together.

I played a deviation to my main, a Minotaur Barb and instead a Minotaur (well I do love the mini) Swordmage.

Had a lot of fun and a good 4-5 hours later the Session was over.

A day later, I am suffering Withdrawls - I want to play again but it is only a week away.

It isnt like I can't find a way to create or join a group that runs on another weekday, I just don't have time for it... it is more than I want the feeling back and want time to flow quicker so it is next week tomorrow.

Accepting that without joining another group, I am unsure how to address my fix. I have started creating my own Campaign world, building it from the ground up (started a little bit of Cartography already) and that is a bit fun but is quite labor intensive.

I also have gotten into the habit of reading corebooks before bed, trying to get ideas for Monster or Custom Class builds to build into a future Campaign and whilst that seems to hit the spot, a little... I still feel like I miss the game.

Someone suggested that I try and get my wife (who is not a D&D fan) into playing one of the D&D board games as it is easy for non-D&D people to play and that may resolve some of my gaming adiction woes.

Enough about me - do any of you feel needy for your D&D fix and what do you do to try and dull the yearning?

I write down adventure/campaign ideas, draw my favorite characters, or design new characters. Sometimes, I fiddle with redesigning extant PCs, just to see if there is a better/cooler way to do them.

FWIW, I have character sheets for hundreds of PCs covering all editions of D&D and a host of other RPGs.

Video games help. They're not as good, but they can get you through the withdrawal. I would like to see a 4E video game in the style of Ataris Temple of Elemental Evil.

DDI Virtual Table Top... I have a weekly game (had 4 at one point) and its almost as good as playing in RL (DM and players depending of course).

Requires DDI subscription, VTT Beta invite (I believe they are trying to give one of these to all DDI subscribers), a computer and decent internet service (and a microphone is nice), though.

So far this thread is by no means edition (or really even game) specific. Would you like me to move it to General for you?

I should note for you - Orange and Red colors are typically used by mods and admins trying speaking officially, and we'd prefer others not use those colors. Aside form that, it gives folks trying to quote you a headache with the tags.

I shift out of the threatened area, and then run, preferably behind cover.

Oh, wait; not that kind of withdrawal... I meant:

Assuming I'm in Sharn, I ask the gnomes to head into the vault and get me some gold; they deduct the amount from my account.

Crap! That's not the right kind either! Okay, how about:

I post long rants and bad jokes, get into flamewars, and do other stupid stuff in D&D forums, primarily at ENWorld.

Yeah, that's it.
