Man, I was gonna be like "cool, a product I can actually skip this year", but the production values of it based on the press release are goddamn nice I don't even know that that's true 😭
Looks good to me, too. Looks like they skipped over the idea of doing a mini for this one in favor of retro cardboard standees, which is probably for the best considering the gumball-machine quality of the old Stranger Things set's demogorgon.

Weren't we just discussing with someone formerly from WotC how difficult it was to time the release of a product with a show/movie/game?
It is difficult. Not impossible, but difficult. And exactly how difficult varies with the video game, tv show, or movie they are trying to tie into.

I'm armchair quarterbacking here, but . . .

For the movie D&D Honor Among Thieves . . . previous D&D movies did not do well, this may have dampened the D&D team's enthusiasm to go all in on tie-in products. WotC actually did a lot of cross promotion and tie-in products for the 2000 D&D movie, and we all know how that went . . . And, trying to align a TTRPG release to a movie that might have its release date shifted at any time is difficult.

For the Baldur's Gate 3 video game . . . that game was delayed significantly, and "Descent into Avernus" actually was the tie-in product! Plus again, how successful the game ended up being surprised everybody at Larian and WotC.

For Stranger Things Season 5 . . . this season has been in development for a long time with a solid release date for this fall, and it's the culminating season of an already very popular show. This I'm sure was a lot easier to coordinate a TTRPG product release for. And with how well Stranger Things has treated D&D, a no-brainer for a tie-in product.

A foreword to the ENTIRE Enworld Message board, I've yet to see Stranger Things and I'm waiting for both parts of Season 5 to come out before going that route. No spoilers please.
In that case I'd suggest staying away from all Stranger Things themed threads. You've been lucky so far, but the show has been out for a while and it's hard to discuss it without significant spoilers.

Season 5 is almost out! You made it this far, now we're on the home stretch!
