D1: Ashin's Commission (El Jefe judging)

Michael considers a moment, decides he doesn't really have any allies at this point, and converts his Bless spell to healing, which he channels into Corporal Moar.
As Michael began the spell, both Khulig and Moar protested that "Squatter" needed the healing more than Moar did. Khulig's entreaties were more vigorous, but Michael suspected that had more to do with Khulig's superior condition than it did with any reluctance on Moar's part.

Hopefully Sela will approve.
OoC: Sela will approve of 9 points of healing on either Moar or "Squatter", your choice.

"...I further understand you have been moving all the people you believe to be sick to a stockade, where they are receiving whatever treatment a cleric of Azwan and a cleric of Grendath can provide. Do I understand that correctly, or would you care to add anything to that?"
Moar nodded his assent, then grunted, "That's about it." He then looked expectantly at Michael, as if asking "So now what?"

Moar, actually. But Michael approves of their feelings.

"Well, if I could impose on you to get a tight hold of your friends hands, I'll get him healed."

Michael explains.

"Corporal, you were aware enough of what was happening I wasn't worried about you doing anything unfortunate. He might wake up and pop me in the jaw before he realizes what the situation is. That would be bad for everyone."

Assuming they cooperate in temporarily restraining their friend, Michael thinks a bit, then converts his Magic Weapon spell into Cure Light Wounds.
Squatters CLW (1d8+3=8)

(OOC:Fiddle.)

From the way Moar rolled his eyes, Michael guessed that the soldier found his explanation amusing. Still, the two did take hold of "Squatter", if a little less firmly than the cleric of Sela would have desired.

"Squatter's" eyelids fluttered open, and Moar uttered a hearty, "Welcome back to the land of the living, Private!" Dropping his voice, he continued. "The bad news is we've all been taken prisoner. So far, they haven't treated us too bad."

"With a face like mine, I can't afford to give anything away."
Michael fingers his potato nose regretfully.

And it's a good thing Corporal Moar missed the initial mess.

Michael settles down on his heels.
"Corporal Moar, I need to go explain a few things to these people." Michael indicates the rest of the party with a twitch of his chin.

"If you and your men will give me your parole to sit quietly under this tree, not try to escape, and not attack us, I will go do that now. If you prefer not to do that, I will not blame you. I will, however, have to tie you all up before I go talk to them. That will be less comfortable for all of you.
Which do you prefer?"

A glance at the nearby terrain gave Michael his answer: the soil was unfavorable for trees, and too rough to make good time on foot. Running would be a fool's errand, even by the light of the setting sun.

"We'll wait for ya", announced Corporal Moar. Private Khulig seemed grateful...perhaps he was still nursing some aches and pains from earlier in the day.

Michael considers, but decides Private Khulig may have to wait until morning. Sound Burst is too valuable a spell to lose with enemies about.

He turns back to the party.
"Any thoughts, or did people not hear everything?"

Possibly because your heads were shoved up your fundaments.

(OOC: This is where Michael finds out if Almayce's spell is still active.)

*Zaeryl makes sure they are all huddled up against the tree as they're supposed to be, in three adjacent squares in a triangle shape. If so, he approves for the moment, but he readies an action to Swarm of Crystals all three if one of them tries to escape.*

Almayce will sign for people to come closer (or go closer himself) so that he can speak to others without the soldiers hearing clearly. He speaks mostly to Michael though.

"Well, what I'd like to know is whether the disease or whatever has conveniently spread to Kinthriver also, since the soldiers have occupied that town too.", Almayce says.

"From what I could gather, he believes in the disease, and that would probably be too much for his superiors to fake out anyway.", he continues while nodding towards the soldiers. "But I certainly have trouble believing that Fallon's motives are too altruistic. All I need to know is that they were not about to let us leave, and have been capturing sane people anyway."

"As for those three, I have no problem with healing them and letting them go, though the timeline for that can be debated. They obviously don't either know anything specific or don't want to tell us too much. But ask them about Kinthriver at least, and about what happes to random people who happen to stumble upon their little camp and want to turn back."

"Then there's also the long term plan we need to figure out. Walking straight into Kinthriver, the camp or Duvik is quite naturally still out of the question."

OoC: Zaeryl may have some difficulty with this. If he moves any distance at all from the soldiers, he won't be able to act as he wishes should they try to escape. If Almayce moves close enough to Zaeryl that Zaeryl can hear clearly, there's a good chance the soldiers can, too.

"I agree with Almayce. The disease sounds almost plausible, if entirely too ghoulish, but why would Fallon trouble themselves." replies Eternity, despite not having any additional information. The private's story sounded all too real and she believed him.
