D1: Ashin's Commission (El Jefe judging)

OoC: That plan doesn't cause me any difficulty at all. There is one thing you might want to consider:

[sblock=Michael: ]Er, to be truthful, it's not clear to me that Michael knows where the stockade is. What direction would he head in (meaning, where does he think it is?)[/sblock]

(OOC: Michael's naive assumption is that the soldiers will need to be returned to the stockade, which he sees as their home base. If this turns out not to be the case, he'll ask one of them for directions.
Even more naively, I suppose, he assumes the soldiers want to be returned to their camp and not desert.
Surprises may be in store as he thinks this through.)

IC
"Hearing no objections, I'm going to hope someone demonstrates we didn't abandon their shoes on the way."

[sblock=Michael: ]OoC: Michael's plan of action seems reasonable to me. As you described in the last post, the soldiers would gladly tell Michael where to go. :) [/sblock]OoC: At this point, I'm just waiting for someone to either hand Michael the footwear, or to indicate that he won't be getting his hands on it.

Ironwolf hands Michael the footwear.

"Hulgyr, if they don't let Michael out we'll need you with us so we can try to rescue him. Where he's going, another sword arm won't help him... but it might save his life to have another sword arm if we need to go and pull him out."

"Hulgyr, it'll be very boring, very sitting, and probably very annoying."
And if you lose your temper during any part of it, you'll get us both imprisoned or hung.

Michael sighs.

"I'll be there when I'm wanted."
Shortly after the 666th layer of the Abyss freezes over.

"Surely." Michael says, and hangs the thing gingerly on his holy symbol.
"Nice rock. Good rock." He pets the psicrystal soothingly...not sure if it needs to be soothed, but if it's going to be hanging around his neck, he definitely doesn't want it getting jumpy.
Whatever jumpy is for rocks.

Michael picks up the boots, straps on a serious expression, and heads back to the three soldiers.
"Gentlemen?"

He waits for them to acknowledge him.

(OOC and please let them all still be there.)

OoC: Seeing as how they weren't more than a half-dozen or so paces away, it would be a remarkable feat of stealth if all three had managed to bugger off undetected!

IC: The three soldiers had been doing their best to appear disinterested in the conversation, knowing that they were likely the subject of interest, and also knowing that they weren't "supposed" to eavesdrop. However, Michael addressing them directly, with their boots in hand, was something that neither their manners nor their inclinations would prevent them from attending to. As one, their eyes met his, and they stood to acknowledge his attention. Michael could not help but notice that they would have given an officer in their ranks no less regard.
