D1: Ashin's Commission (El Jefe judging)

Eternity tries to ignore Michael's theoretical demons, but then starts to think on what they might actualy encounter in the mine. To her, she had always assumed up till now that the threat was some peasants wild imaginings. But with military presence in the area perhaps things were not as simple as a sickness anthropomorphized in tales.

--- THE STONEPIKE MOUNTAINS ---

The psicrystal turns right and sets off along the path. The path begins to climb more steeply, but it still remains a fairly easy slope. Every now and then it has to scamble over an obstruction of one kind or another. But generally the going is fairly easy for the crstal if it sticks to the path.

Meanwhile, behind the crystal, the rest of the part follows some 200 feet behind, and off to one side of the path. The forest surrounding the path hampers movement somewhat, but mounted on horses the party is able o keep up with the psiscystal without to much difficulty.

[sblock=Ironwolf]After about an hour a man looms into view in front of the psicrystal. He is dressed in a uniform and moving cautiously towards the crystal. He carries a short spear in one hand, has a short sword at his belt and wears leather armour. Moments later, everything goes black for the psicrystal as something dark and heavy decends over it and it is pressed to the ground.

Knowledge Local DC 5:
The uniform and crest on the front are those of Fallon.

Ironwolf lets out a curse.

"My crystal was just captured by a Falonese guard!"

Deliberately and without undue haste, he manifests a Thought Shield, using 1 power point.

Keep me informed! he thinks to the psicrystal.

"I'm going to go get it back. I'd apreciate some company."

Upon recieving any not clearly negative response ("Wait! Don't Go!" would be a clearly negative response) he'll encourage his horse to move from a walk to a trot. He'll refrain from a headlong gallop.

When Michael breaks the news that his crystal has bene captured Hulgyr jumps to attention.
When Michael states he is going to retrieve it and appreciates some help you could swear to hear the Orc make a small noise in excitement "Hulgyr will help you!"
Hulgyr immediately grabs his sword and checks his javelins and his longbow.

"Wait."
Michael closes his eyes and thinks.
"The crystal cannot be hurt, correct? He will take it to his commander, who will take it to his commander, and so forth. Let them take our scout right into headquarters -- we would have tried to get it there anyway."

Having said this, he leans forward on his horse's neck and follows after Ironwolf anyway.

"I'm afraid it's perfectly capable of being hurt. It's primary defense is stealth, and that has clearly failed."

Ironwolf, falchion in hand, continues his moderate advance.

"We may be walking into an ambush. To have noticed something so small, the soldier is at least unusually alert."

We've been found by the patrols already? Eternity thinks to herself as she manifests a force screen in preparation for the coming battle.

Michael looks very unhappy and gets off his horse.
"And Ironwolf, not to sound critical, but if he's not slightly alarmed at the sight of a walking rock this is either very strange country or he's expecting us very specifically."

He unlimbers his hammer.
"Seriously, how often do you see walking rocks?"

"Whenever Sela wills it?" Ironwolf responds. "We may have a better idea to respond when we come into sight of the guard, or if my psicrystal makes another report."
