D2: Lost Manor (nimisgod judging)

The Corporal raises an eyebrow at Ridik's words, as if he caught some cue to what lay beneath them. But he doesn't press the issue.

"I'll pass on the tea. I was just on my way to work, just thought I'd leave a word of warning to you, goode folk. One of my Men was in the tavern last night when he heard someone asking questions about this household. From what was told to me, he matched the description of a certain unsavory individual"

Gardner wanders in after hearing the knock and unfamiliar voice. Although he still appears to be walking gingerly, the little rest he had has restored the wide grin that accompanied him at the beginning of the adventure. He approaches the watchman.

"Was this the man in the hat? What kind of questions did he ask? He didn't mention any places did he? I mean... towns he had been or was likely to go to? Any information your man might have could be helpful, and maybe worth your while.", he says the last bit with a small pat of his purse.

OOC: i'm back from my vacation. Did anyone get enough rest to recoup some HP?

The corporal frowns at Gardner's question, puzzled by his sudden interest and disturbed by his open-handedness. "I don't know of any specific Man in a Hat"

"But this Man, Slim Pickering, has a bad rep as a con-artist and a scoundrel. That he's stuck to petty crimes means that we haven't busted him yet. But he seemed well-off, buying drinks to people who would talk to him without worry about cost"

"Now, it's my turn to ask questions. Who is this Man in a Hat?"

"Ridik told you about him. We had a runin with him at the library. He's a two bit thug. Figured he's the guy you were talking about.Wears a feathered hat.", GArdner says, a little embarrassed to be slow on the uptake, but not willing to share any info about the latest runin.

"That Man in the hat? Slim Pickering? I don't think so. No, Slim Pickering doesn't wear a hat like that. And he's certainly not the aggressive type, either. I think that even your little friend here can take him in a fist fight.

Wouldn't be surprised if he was playing goon to your feathered friend, though"

The Corporal looked to the east and his frown deepened. "Off to work for me. You'll probably find Slim in the worst parts of Orussus, drinking"

He put on his helm and began to leave.

"One last question. Which bar was he in when your man saw him?", Gardner asks, thinking that Slim probably needs a visit.

Listening in, Richard finally smiles a thin-grim smile... 'Oh goody, early morning bar-hopping' he thinks sourly. Waiting for some clue from the corporal, Richard simply wants to get moving... yet he recognizes a 'lead' when he sees one... unless it's a trap.

Once Gardner and Ridik have dealt with the watchman, ao'Thuir nods and heads back up stairs, ready to bash in the chest. He'll wait till all the others have gathered outside the room and Ignatious has been informed.

Ridik listens to Gardener and the watchmen. Once the have finish, Ridik will simply adds. "Thank you sir, it is really apreciated." before going back to the secret chamber of grandma and prepare to open the chest.

Coming up the stairs, Richard meets the looks of the rest of the group, "I have to admit, I'm very curious as well." Being the last up the stairs, Richard can't help but keep an eye towards the stairs... he half expects to see that feather any time now...
