Their entrance was unnoticed, strangely enough. The four companions may have looked strange, their composition and garb being different from the norm. But it appeared that such things were commonplace enough to warrant an apathy wrought of familiarity.

The Green Sailor's main room was small and smoky. Barstaff were still cleaning the many empty tables. The patrons, three older Men, two male young Half-Orcs and a grizzled female Halfling lounged in the bar. A pair of gnomes chattered on a nearby table. The bartender was a bored looking dwarf, red-bearded and with a grimace that alluded to late night drinking habits.
Gardner nods to ridik and approaches the barkeep. He strides to the bar, looks slyly around as if he has private matter to discuss with the dwarf. "We are looking for a Slim. We might have a business proposition for him." He lifts his hand from the bar to rub his hand through his hair, revealing a single gold piece. "If can you point us in his direction, it would be worth it for both of you."

The bartender's face lightened visibly at the sight of coin. The change was so dramatic and obvious that Gardner and even his slightly less keen companions could sense it. Of the patrons, only the female Halfling noticed and she kept to her cups. The prattle of Gnomish hovered in the background like a gnat.

"You lookin' for Slim are ya?' His voice low, the bartender looks at Gardner's companions and frowns at the sight of Ridik. "He goes here and often snoopin' about. He moves from place to place that one..."

He fills up a glass with water (of uncertain quality) and pushes it on the table toward Gardner. "He's housin' somewhere in the east side. Last I hear, he was talkin' about the fineries of the Fine Time Hotel"

Lucien and Richard

Ignatious smiles back, a genuine and true display. "You've helped us enough by scaring that intruder from our house and braving the dangerous of that awful room. If wish to stay the night, in case he returns, go ahead.

I'm going out with the wife to make the preparations. Fortunately, my business keeps me in touch with quick carriages"

He looks at Richard and sees the haggard look of the Fighter. "...Maybe we can help you with some breakfast"

Gardner pushes the water back, "Whiskey and keep the change. I'd appreciate it if you would keep your eyes open for me. Provide the right piece of information and more of my cold might find its way into your purse." Gardner takes the whiskey and walks over to the group. "Looks like we're headed to the east side."

OOC: If noone has anything else to do here, Gardner and Co. head to the Fine Time

Lucien smiles at the couple. "This news makes me glad, to have you accept and trust us means a great deal. I'm sure the others will have no problems with these terms so I will say that we conditionally accept your proposal. We will get started as soon as the others return from their trip. Is there anything we can do to help you out here in the meantime?"

Richard smiles at Lucien, 'I knew I should have let him do the talking!'

"Aye, now that I can handle." Richard lets the way be led towards filling his gut, relief plain on his youthful features.

ao'Thuir, Ridik, Rinya, Gardner

The Wood Elf's intimidation catches the Halfling off-guard and convinces her to keep her ears to herself.

Gardner and Rinya
[sblock] The Gnomes are prattling on about a myriad of topics, among them, the words of a street Philosopher, the latest fashion of Orussus and about the latest prank they pulled on some Half-Orc adventurer new to town. The speed of their topic changes is enough to make any non-gnome a little dizzy.[/sblock]

The four exit the Green Sailor, returning to the hustle and bustle of the docks area. Precise questioning on Gardner's part once again saves them an hour of getting lost in the vast metropolitan district.

When they see the Fine Time Hotel, it is in a seedy section of the eastern area. It is garishly painted with gaudy pictures of nymphs and mermaids. Those who are used to such places easy recognize the type of hotel* that the Fine Time actually is.

Fate conspires with her own counsel, so none can truly say if it by the party's good or the gentleman's ill that a Man matching Slim's weasely, cheap countenance exits the building in front of them, having recently used the Fine Time's wares (obvious by his rumpled garb)

He has yet to notice the party for who they truly are, but their appearance does provoke him into a sudden wariness. He turns swiftly to avoid intercepting the party, keeping a normal pace and lowering his eyes.

No one could be more obvious.

*A brothel, of course

Richard and Lucien

Not too surprisingly, it is Ignatious that cooks some hearty fare for Richard and Lucien. The bread, cheese and eggs provided are enough to fill the doughty defenders of the Meijer household.

Ignatious' brother (and business partner) is out on errands. Ignatious and his wife inform their sentinels that they too are to leave the house for a while, to make arrangements regarding the carriage and the supplies.

This of course leaves Richard and Lucien with the children, who view them with a conflicting mix of burning curiousity and healthy fear.
