The news page reports that Mongoose Publishing are going to be publishing the D20 version of Conan. If Mongoose keep up their previous high quality works, I can't wait to see this!

Hi guys,

We are well aware of Mr Darlage's work and, just as we have done with the game-that-still-cannot-be-mentioned, we will be contacting various fan sites and 'forum writers' that catch our attention to help develop the game.

No where have we said that it would be D20 however (though it is still a possibility) :)

I have to admit, we _are_ leaning towards D20 (or, more precisely, OGL) for Conan. With so much of D&D being based on the original Conan, it seems a shame not to go full circle :)

Sounds good - but if you have an interesting new system in mind, that's cool, too.

Heh. GURPS Conan was kinda neat, BTW; I hope this will be even better...

Crom demands that you release the new Conan game as a complete book under the OGL. And while you're at it, rewrite some of the combat rules to capture the furious barbarian action found in the stories (read: no attacks of opportunity). Of course, I would not be opposed to a system of your own design.

Btw, do you have any sort of timeline Matt? The middle of next year, late next year, or what?

You guys have made my day. Conan equals fantasy to me.

Funny you should mention attacks of opportunity. We are currently working on (another licenced) game that will effectively be D20 Lite - kinda like the old red box of basic D&D, and AoO were the first thing we dropped.

What so you reckon then? Should Conan also be D20 Lite, or do you want heavyweight rules in all their glory?

BTW, Conan is due to be released in January 2004. Sorry about the wait, but we have a lot of other cool things coming out in the mean time and I promise it will be well worth it :)

I like the crunchiness of D&D for D&D style fantasy gaming, but Conan is about fast and furious action. I highly doubt anyone will complain if you take the D&D lite route with it. I, for one, have been waiting for someone to stream line the system a bit.
