d20 Cthulhu for "Low Magic" Fantasy

I figure to use Sanity in my games when I get the book. How many PC's wouldn't lose some the first time they fight undead or see a giant 10' spider!! I know that I would be running and my wife would probably just drop dead on the spot. I think it will be a great thing to add in for the horrific situations or first time encounters with things that make you blubber.

GIMME GIMME GIMME!

Can't wait for it to come out. It will go nicely with the 2nd edition COC Hardback with Sandy Petersons autograph. Does anyone know if they include any Dreamlands info in the rulebook?

This could make a wonderful alternative magic system for pulp-fantasy games or other "low magic" settings. Anyone considering it?

Asking for the blessing of the gods before you fight the orcish raiders drives you insane?

Well, in order to warrant a sanity loss, you need a low-fantasy campaign that is not stereotypical. You need themes of "secrets-man-was-not-meant-to-know", alien and uncaring gods etc. Otherwise it hardly makes sense.
The ability score loss would work fine in many campaigns though, showing the rigours on mind and body that channelling magical power has.
Of course, spellcasting characters would be very different in any such campaign.

Thanks for the link to the Lovecraft Library gregweller.

I had hoped someone would post that link eventually. I was looking and couldn't find it for some reason.

Lost it when my harddrive went *click, click, click, CRUNCH* a month ago.

On the upside I now have double the space I did before. :)

Most spells in CoCd20 only do temporary attribute damage plus sanity loss. A few spells however do perm attribute damage plus sanity loss(One of the enchant item spell options, etc).

Also while I havn't finished reading the book yet, but I don't think there is anything on the dreamlands.
