d20 Fallout

I don't want to spoil anything, but we played post-apocalypse with d20 modern and it was boring. I really loved d20 modern, but fire fights arethe obvious choice once you have aquired fire weapons. It' just much mor effective. And fire fights in d20 modern and static and all but interesting or tactically challenging. I guess ranged combat just isn't the d20 thing. So maybe you wanna think about some improvements to that area of rules.

wolfen fenrison have you thought about putting all the information at the top of the thread into a PDF? You could do that and place a link to it in your sig on say google docs so it's always available to anyone who'd like to try it out. I think it'd be a fun genre/game to play.

Heh, went to the Hallowe'en Store - bought a bag of 36 rad roaches.... :)

I have a Mantic Warpath miniature on preorder for a named baddie -

A Super-Mutant named Warpath. :)

For urban terrain you can add Finger & Toe Models to the list -

The Factory is exterior only, but can easily be combined with the Multistory Warehouse to have an interior.

The smaller warehouse is very similar to several places in FO3 - places where folks are waiting for you to come out so that they can yell 'Talon Company!'

I'm working on the main pdf right now, still a little way off as I'm updating the rules, but I will post it as soon as its done ;)

How easy are those buildings to put together and what material do you use?

Fairly easy - simple box builds for the most part.

I use the card stock that they sell at WalMart for use in printers, 110 pound stock, I think.

A steel rule is needed for straight cuts, as is some form of cutting implement - I use the kind with the blades that can be snapped off when they are dull - picked up at the dollar store. You can use the back of the blade to follow along the fold lines, compressing the paper along the line - making nice straight folds when you follow along the line.

A cutting board, mat, or piece of thick card to do your cutting on so you don't ruin your table.

A low moisture glue of some kind - some folks recommend UHU but I have had better luck with glue sticks. Double sided tape also works very well.

You may want some foam core board to reinforce the floors. For the World Works terrain you will need it, since it uses a tab and slot method to assemble.

And magic markers to color the edges of the paper so you don't have white edges on a brick building....

Finger & Toe is easier to build, but the World Works terrain is more modular, and can be taken apart for storage. I like both.

Dave Graffam makes a line of World War Ruins that are decent as well -

Very simple builds.

Neat

Im actually running a game set in the Fallout universe with a few differences

A) Ive set it in Florida. Im Australian but managed to get a map of miami and outlying areas so Ive been using that as my background info :)

B) Created and placed some vaults of my own (one of which provides the player characters)

C) Introduced the Cubans as one group of 'baddies'. Technically they are remnants of a strike force that invaded America just before the Nukes were launched. There are smatterings of Russians amongst them too.

D) Brotherhood is more akin to Fallout 1 and 2. Interested in Technology at all costs and not really good or evil. They just are. Their attempt to safeguard technology was they boobytrapped a town library the party was going through.
