D20 Future: excuse me while I drool

d20 modern, d20 sci-fi future ... bah! I'm still waiting to hear about some sort of d20 product that takes us to a distant past, perhaps with fantasy or magical elements.

How distant are we talking? We aready have a Biblical Era D20 RPG.

No it wouldn't, taste in art is a personal thing. I can see why someone might not like that particular style of art, but personally I think it suits the setting.
Sorry, I thought he meant the core ruleset. I usually don't place art as my #1 factor in buying game products.

This cover tells us three important things; that, in the Future:

* The Red Cross will have the bestest anime-inspired spacesuits available.

* Japanese-Scottish schoolgirls will still have their leet fighting abilities. And katanas (katanae). Unfortunatly, they lost their trenchcoats in the Goth Wars of 2044.

* Man-Tiger-Baboons will finally have equal rights in the military, thanks to the expanded 'don't ask, don't tell' rules.

Captain Caveman d20.

Actually, if someone wanted to cook up a Stone Age setting with dinosaurs and funky Joseph Campbell shaman magic, I'd give it a look.

However, my first pick for "d20 Past" would be a Victorian Era sourcebook. Green Ronin would be awfully good at something like this. A general sourcebook with options to add steamtech and the occult.

Ranger REG,

As mentioned, it is merely an art preference. A question of Taste - not a statement of whether I would or would not buy it due to the art.

I just really didn't care for D20 Modern's style. I was hoping for a different style in D20 Future. That's all.

I'll make my decision on the product when it comes out and I peruse it - and the majority of my decision will be made on content, but the art will be a factor.

Just giving my honest opinion, like everyone else. <shrug>

Don't know how close it comes to what you want, but there is a Gothic Earth sourcebook. It's a free pdf, part of the Living Death RPGA setting. You can check it out at www.livingdeath.org. It is a d20 adaptation of the Masque of the Red Death. Never saw the original so can't tell you how it compares. Anyway, thought I'd let you know.

GURPS Ice Age. :)

i'd go for that in a heartbeat too. especially if there was a Green Ronin in the upper left-hand corner. :)

i wouldn't mind seeing an official Space 1889 d20 game, either.

I've read it. It's a reasonable effort, but it would be immensely improved by using d20 Modern instead...with incantation magic.

The original was a great idea hindered by an even less-suitable engine --- D&D 2.0.

Isn't it called "Dungeons & Dragons"? :D

Nah, just kidding. I know what you're asking for. But as small as the market seems to be for Modern, I bet it's even smaller for a more "realistic" ancient fantasy game.

Mmmmm... Actually, I was being facetious. (shrug) Sorry. It's my nature.
