D20 Future + Sidewinder: Recoiled=Firefly?

Unlike Geoff, I have seen Firefly. I actually picked up the DVD of the full series and just finished watching up thru disc 2. And I'm still reading the d20 Future. I'll get back to ya'll on my thoughts on how the S:R and Future integrate. So far my instincts tell me it's more a matter of choosing which elements of Future to include rather than what elements of S:R to exclude.

As to the weapons, the funny thing about the Firefly universe is that the majority of the guns are revolver's and lever-action rifles. Weapons that are definatly *not* covered by d20 Future, but most assuredly *are* covered by S:R.
I thought the Alliance have advanced personal arms, while those out in the Fringes are low-tech due to limited access to high-tech. But it's been a long time.

I think that's the basic deal... but I'm not sure that the fringe guns are actually supposed to be low tech or just look low tech. I mean they don't make the noises you'd expect low tech guns to make... but stat wise who cares?

Ok, I picked up D20 Future, and I don't think it meets my needs for Science Fictioning up Sidewinder: Rcoiled.

next effort will be using Charles Rice's Blood and Space

Oddly enough there is a Firefly game out there without the Firefly name. Eden in the first issue of their magazine or whatever its called hasa section on the setting they just left out all the Proper names. It isn't d20 though, its there d10 system.

Having now seen the book, I certainly don't understand why it's not working for you TB.

It's got appropriate sized ships, with gravity drives. It's got concussion rifles like the alliance use, and lasers like some of the others use. It's got the requisite level of simplicity in spaceflight and space combat for a game as non-spaceflight orientated as Firefly...

So what's wrong with it?

Im working on a Firefly conversion off and on, and the best Ive seen so far for this is an amalgam of Sidewinder:recoiled and Traveller T20 (which so far, best illustrates the different crew positions in Serenity, as not all of the main characters are combat-oriented). YMMV
