[D20 Future] Starship Rules

Can someone point me to, or provide some examples or such to help me figure out how this is supposed to work.
Hehehehe. :]

You want me to point it for you? * points at library * Research.

Every sci-fi universe is different. Warp engines from Star Trek work differently from Andromeda quantum slipstream or B5 jump gates. Don't take the d20 Future material as the supreme law of faster-than-light travel for all.

I would just use different "scaling" for different settings. In the Babylon 5 universe, for instance, all the capital ships for humans and Minbari are superheavy already, leaving no space for ships like the Excalibur.

Meanwhile, Star Trek ships are a lot smaller (well, at least Federation ships).

Some info on slipstream.

it appears to be similar to a jumpdrive, and travel times might just have to be left to GMs fiat. It is very fast, but not instantaneous.

Thanks for the link. After reading it, it seems like you could probably use the Jump Drive as a basis, and then add a random variable time in there for less-traveled routes. Maybe like a % chance for increased travel time, based on the frequency the route is traveled. If you roll unluckily and get a delay, you could do something like 2d12 hours delay (or whatever time frame you think is appropriate).

Be careful what you say or the little d20 future bots will come and get you! :uhoh:

OK seriously, yes they playable but very simplistic rule set. If you want something with a bit more complexity and hopefully fun then try mine. :D

On the whole no rule set will make you 100% happy, unless you make it for yourself, as I am doing. So feel free to butcher it as much as you like, because after all they are just guidelines. :D

I thought it was a system not a collection of differing rules or guidelines

Look to all systems and take what you like from them all. You might have to convert some to the other but in the end you will end up with what you like.

well you might want to tell the designers that! as it was released as a game system and not seperate sets of rules.

It is not called d20 future space ships and another book called d20 mecha it is called d20 future. Which is supposed to be a strap on book to modern and Urban arcana.

It was released by the same publishers under the same banner, so????

d20 Future is no different than D&D's Unearthed Arcana (aka "The Big Book of Variant Rules"). I'm sorry it does not live up to your standard, Aussiegamer.

To me, they're just FX plugins.

I'd look up Neo's Custom Ship Construction rules, they're free on his Dragonstar page. I believe they include rules for slipstream, but I could be wrong. It's a pretty hefty PDF, very well thought out.
