d20 Modern: No casters ?

Have you read d20 Modern yet? The mage, acolyte, battlemind, and telepath PrCs at least are actually quite generic and could be used in any d20 Modern campaign where the applicable FXs are allowed, not just the presented example campaigns from the chapters in which they appear.

We're not talking Red Wizards of Thay or Purple Dragons here. These 4 Advanced Classes {edited by myself for corrective purposes :P and help the learning process...} are really just the modern equivalents of their respective D&D core classes.

I agree totally with you on the Mage, Acolyte, Telepath, and Battlemind advanced classes, jaerdaph. They are generic enough that they could have been included in the srd...but technically there is nothing stopping a company from making their own Mage advanced class and basing it off of the wizard/sorceror core classed from in the D&D SRD...which could be part of the reason they weren't included...

The Mage advanced class has the same BAB, Saves, and Spell progression (a 10th level wizard only has access to 5th level spells as well...) as a Wizard....both the Wizard and the Mage are granted Arcane Spells, Arcane based Skills as class skills, and the ability to summon a familiar at 1st level....

the only differences between the two is Mage only goes to 10th (like all Advanced Classes)...their bonus feats are gained at 3rd,6th, & 9th levels...they don't get Scribe Scroll until 2nd level...they gain Scribe Tattoo (something a wizard doesn't get) and they are granted Spell Mastery at several levels as opposed to having to take a feat for it like wizards....Mages also get Combat Casting and Maximize feats for free at certain higher levels.

Mages also have Defense & Reputation bonuses.....

I haven't really checked the others...but I would assume you find a simialar trend amongst them as well..(being based off of core classes from D&D)

The Shadowchasers AdCs (heehee - learning process!) actually are tied into that setting, my understanding of which I don't think I made clear in my initial posts. I'm only campaigning for the mage, acolyte, battle mind, and telepath AdCs here.

Not that I want to start a crusade here or anything. I'm more concerned with things like getting recycling restored in NYC, for example.

Still, I think it is a little short sighted not to at least open up the 2 spellcasting and 2 psionic PrCs from d20 Modern. Yes, I know that third parties could come up with their own similar PrCs, some may even be "better", but, to use an old cliche, why reinvent the wheel? If the FX are open, why not open the 4 PrCs that can use them? That's what they did withr the D&D core rulebooks.

The only concern I have over the whole idea is that I think WotC with held the AdC (kudos for the abbreviation). is that waaaay to many GMs have a fetish for "offical" stuff as well as this presents a challenge for the whole Living "Yada Yada" RPGA phenenomon.

As an example, there is a Living Game that only allows the PsiHB rules, powers and three of the Psi PrCs, even though all the Psi stuff of the WotC website has been stated to be offical as well. So even if someone improves "spell casters" (If Thought Could Kill, anyone). The fetish for "offical" stuff will still corner the market in some regards.
