d20 Modern supplements from WotC: wish list / predictions

I'd like to see a d20 Modern War book (everything from Revolutionary and WWII up through modern times) and a fully-realized Pulp Heroes campaign. WotC still owns some pretty neat IP's like Gamma World, Top Secret SI, Gangbusters and Boot Hill (western) that would at least make some nice campaign models.

I want a Star*Drive Campaign Setting Book for d20 Future.

Actually, with the recent apparent demise of Star Wars RPG and the rumors that the RPGA will start some sort of a sci-fi campaign to fill the void, I can see this happening.

Well several people and companies, including myself, have asked about licensing the Top Secret line from them and their response has always been "No". Maybe they will wise up and do something with it.

I would also like to see a Shadowchasers book (and/or Agents of Psi). Also, a "Weapons Locker"-type manual for vehicles (bikes, cars, planes, etc).

Wrong. No announcement is no announcement. Unofficially, however, it is most certainly not dead :)

Unfortunately, when a company can't be bothered to make an annoucement clarifying their future after a bombshell about laying off most their staff, speculation is going to be rampant that most its game lines are dead. And once people think they are dead, they really will become dead. Why would anyone buy Spycraft now, when there is no assurance it's got a future?

Heck, even when companies do make it abudandtly clear they aren't dead and are still putting out products, it's sometimes not enough to fend off the rumors spread by game store owners/employees. That's a large part of what did in GDW.

Which is why I'm here telling you, Spycraft is not dead. Say what you want about AEG's business practices, but sometimes sorting out things like this take some time. AEG faced the very real possibility of laid off employees saying they were laid off, feeding the rumor mill anyway, so they made the announcment.

Why would anyone buy Spycraft now, when there is no assurance it's got a future?

This statement is mystifying to me because the game is already perfectly playable as-is. People play games without direct support of the company all the time - Paranoia pre-XP (kept alive by it fans for nearly 15 years!) or Cyberpunk or Marvel Super Heroes or any other number of out of print games out there; people don't have a problem playing those.

But the more important thing is that I am here telling you Spycraft does have a future. Definately. I promise.

That's why I'm telling you the game is alive :) Spin control, especially in the age of the internets, is a real b!tch sometimes.

Gee, where were you and your somber mood during the Great Hasbro/WotC Winter Layoff of 2000-2001?

Did you get depressed when d20 Modern designers Rich Redman, Owen KC Stephens (btw, Happy 35th B-Day), and others were let go, spelling doom for d20 Modern?

Heaven forbid you keep tab on Guardians of Order.

Hey, I gotta harp on you, man, for being more pessimistic than me.

AEG will bounce back.

Just to reinforce the notion, this bit from Patrick Kapera:

I'm still on walkabout but I thought I'd pop in and assure everyone that Spycraft is alive and well, and that news is currently ambling down the pipe. It'll still be a little while before anything is said, as this is a turbulent time for AEG, but you have my personal guarantee that everything in our power is being done to gather relevant details and get you the information you need. Despite my leave, I am still deeply entrenched in the brand, with my finger directly on its very healthy pulse.

I stand corrected. Just goes to show you shouldn't assume. :p
