WotC or Third Party, SOMEBODY needs to do a d20 Modern Vehicles book - military AND civilian!

I was working on an Alternity Warships inspired set of rules. But it was only covering space travel. But it did cover military and civilian and was really flexible (moreso than the original) at using different tech levels.

Our opinions though, will never change the general perception that WoTC products are better because they are official.

The reason I tend to shy away from third party books is because it gives you some kind of assurance that you are not going to get much repeat info (except for update books and compilation books). And with Wizards most of the cracks will be filled in with systems that work together seamlessly.

Because of the differing foci of third party developers, you will find overlap all over the place and missing bits and pieces scattered about. Which means I'd probably end up buying the Wizards version of it anyway. And I don't have the money to buy the same concept twice. So, are there better Stronghold books out there than Stronghold Builder's Guidebook? I'm sure of it. But will Strong... do me OK and give me a sense that I have what is needed, letting me fill in (or delete) the rest? Yup.

Masque of the Red Death is already due for d20. Arthaus, the current Ravenloft publishers, are putting out a Masque hardcover in October. The Living Death coordinator is one of the authors, so I imagine that when it comes out, Living Death might try to replace its current rules with those. However, the Ravenloft developers have said it's not using d20 Modern at all, just the standard d20 SRD. :\

WHOOOOOOT!!!!

Yeah, I don't think Wizards is allowed to publish Ravenloft games as part of their contract with White Wolf/Arthaus/Sword and Sorcery.

MotRD wouldn't necessarily be covered by that contract [although apparently it is]. WotC dropped some Red Death references in Menace Manual.

There was talk about another book from WW called Masque of the Jade Dragon [or something like that]...sounds like an exploration of the Far East of the MotRD universe.

Right, originally the Ravenloft contract was said to not include Masque, though I guess they must have done some renegotiation recently. The inclusion of the Six-Fingered Hand in the Menace Manual seems to prove that Wizards can pretty well do as they please.

Details on the Jade Dragon book are pretty sketchy; I haven't heard for sure if it would be set in Gothic Earth, but the developers have said that its publication depends on how well MotRD does, so I wouldn't be surprised...

First of all, I must say I was really glad to see this thread! :D I've been hoping for a book like this. I can't find anything about it on the WotC website though. Could someone please hit me with an URL to where ever d20P is mentioned?

As people have said - quite a few of the historical settings have actually been touched. At least softly. ;) By that I mean products like Deadlands - yeah it's set in the past alright... but it's not even remotely historic. Sidewinder: Recoiled (which I'm really looking forward to) is "real world" historic and we don't get that much in the d20 market. Is that because it isn't cool enough? To few fireballs? Probably. I can imagine there's a good potential for a loyal following though. We'll see what happens in the future.

I picked up two AD&D 2nd Historical Reference books earlier this week (A Mighty Fortress & Age of Heroes) - I have to say I really like 'em. They offer takes on both the mundane & fantastical versions of the eras and I'm actullay amazed by how well written much of the AD&D-material is. It's so... sensible. :) I'd really like to see that tradition carried on into the d20 world.

Guardians of Orders have already released d20 Military Vehicles, with stats based on d20 Mecha vehicle creation ruleset. It works for d20 Modern.

I swear it was there yesterday in the catalog. I just selected by Year (2005) and got a number of products for the first quarter of next year. Now the only one showing up is "Races of the Wild" for D&D. Even the rest of the D&D stuff reported on the ENWorld front page is gone from the catalog. I wonder if someone screwed up and put it up too early and now they've yanked it for the time being?

There is a short write-up on Amazon, but it doesn't really say much and I wonder if its accurate (a 96 page paperback?).

The HR series was pretty cool - though some were more hit and miss than others. A Mighty Fortress is one of the few good Elizabethan era gamebooks I've seen, and the Celtic book is quite good too. I've seen some good historical supplements for d20 - especially some of the ones that Avalanche Press did (their Celtic book is VERY good, IMHO).
