d20 Vampire??

Heh. Threads of this sort crop up every 1-2 months - both here and on WW's boards...

As of yet, nothing seems to have come of it. ;) (Though I once pointed out to the Werewolf developer how to do Werewolf in d20 since he didn't think it was possible... :))

Wow. Werewolf doesn't really seem all that hard. Easier than Vampire anyway.

Do you know where it was originally mentioned about d20 Vamp?

d20 Mage, now that would be sweet. :)

Heh. Not that Ethan Skemp (the Werewolf developer) couldn't figure out how to do the Gifts, etc., properly. However, he thought it next to impossible to handle the Renown system - especially for characters (that are quite possible in "normal" Werewolf) like Ronins with few Ranks and Gifts, but lots of fighting ability.
To which I suggested that he should use something similar to the SW d20 Reputation system for it and make certain levels in that a prerequisite for Prestige Classes and such. :)

As for d20 Vamp - I've heard a lot of rumors (especially concering that one super-secret deal between WW and WotC) over time, but nothing concrete. And WW are quite busily denying such rumors when they crop up on their boards... *shrug* I think it's possible that it'll happen some day, though...

And yes, Mage d20 sounds interesting...

(Of course, myself, I'm quite happy with all these games as they are now - but hey, everything that gets more people interested in WW games is a good thing IMO. :))

What would D20 Mage provide that Mage doesn't?
That's easy: An alternative and very flexible magic system for d20 campaigns.

Heh. I probably wouldn't play Mage itself with it, but I might use it for what I suggested above in this post. :)

have you looked at the sovereign stone system? very cool, and pretty different from the standard D20 magic system.

Hmm... I might look into that when I'm at my local games store the next time. :)

it's worth it, IMHO.

the "elemental mage" takes the place of sorcers, wizards and priests. in other words, they are the only ones who cast spells.

the way spellcasting works is that each spell has a casting threshold, low level spell have low ones like "6", high level ones have a higher ones like "65". the mage rolls a d20 each round, and when the casting threshold is exceeded, the spell takes effect. (the rolls are, of course, cumulative). the bonus is that there is no limit to the number of times the mage may cast the spell. he may become fatigued while doing so, however, and take subduel damage.

elemental mages use the four elements (fire, water, air and earth) to base their magic on, and each race is favored in one particular element. there is also a fifth one, "the void", which has cool spells but nasty side effects. think of it as drawing on "the dark side" in SW.

i like the system because it makes magic less accessible and more wondrous. it can cause mayhem, though, because no more spells for bards and paladins. no more sorcerors, wizards and clerics (as spellcasters). it's great for low magic campaigns.
