D20M Campaign Themes?

The question I'd ask is... do you really need to use the sanity rules? If your players encounter creatures who look like normal people, then it shouldn't be too long before they're acting loony anyway, without having to have "paranoia" written on their sheets.

I'm going to run a dark fantasy game using the d20 Modern system, along with the Sanity system from CoC. The low magic feeling of the game is perfect for this kind of setting.

This sounds like an interesting system. I'm using a combination of the Cthulu Mythos and the Shadow Chasers idea. The unwitting heroes of the campaign are brought together by a chance encounter with the things that lurk beyond the veil, and continuing onward, and if I decide to increase the magic level I'll integrate the Urban Arcana setting in. It's working good so far. :)

One that I'd like to try is a rehash of a sort of mini-series I did with Alternity.

There was a Playstation game called Rogue Trip. It was a car combat game, like Twisted Metal, but you could also run around and pick up tourists. You drove them to interesting photo opps and made extra cash. The motto was "we fight the fights so you can see the sights."

So the PCs were basically mercenary types that set up a company to take people to places, where they just weren't supposed to be, as tourists. One adventure had the group trying to smuggle a known criminal into the governor's mansion to get his picture taken during a meet-and-greet dinner. Another one was a photo safari in a Jurassic Park type setting.

The real kicker was the financial backer of the group had a strict no-kill policy. No matter what else they had to do, the PCs could NOT kill under any conditions.

Overall, loads of fun.

Currently I am starting a campaign where basically gangs have taken over most of the US. Rival gangs within a city and some gangs that cross through multiple cities. The idea is that the governor of California decided to do something about it and covertly decided to start an organization to get rid of the gangs. All of my players are getting into the program to win their freedom from jail. 5 years in the gang takedown center and they are free and they get the money they take from the gangs.

They will not only have to take out the leaders but keep other gangs from rising in its place. So I figure they will be starting in one city (probably about 50,000 in population) clear it out and move on. I figure every different class could easily be used in this setting so no one class gets dumped on. Also my players are going to have to be smart and not just charge into situations. I mean really there are way more than one way in which to skin a cat. (Sorry for all those who are offended by that last comment that cats can be skinned.)
