ok i am trying to get to the d20reviews website to update the daemonforge files. I am using Bulletproof ftp to ftp to the site to view the files. Every time i hit the refresh button i get nothing. No files appear. I can login, authenticate but no files appear for me to update or view. Any ideas?

It usually takes me a long time to get connected to the server or to move between directories. I was on (via WS FTP, updating the d20 System Guide) when I saw this message, so I bopped over to the daemonforge directory and this is what I could see:

So there definitely is stuff in there. Maybe try a different FTP client?

I'm debugging the server at the moment, one of the errors I am hunting down seems to have something to do with the FTP server, BUT I know that the FTP server is working. If this problem persists with a different client, let me know.

There is usually an output text of actions shown somewhere on your FTP client, eg

WINSOCK.DLL: Microsoft wsock32.dll, ver2.2, 32bit of Apr 22 1999, at 20:29:32.
WS_FTP95 LE 4.50 97.05.17, Copyright © 1992-1997 Ipswitch, Inc.

226-Transfer complete.
226 Quotas on: using 1930333.00 of 104857600.00 bytes

Copy and paste this text here, there migth be something wrong with the config on the FTP client. But FOR THE LOVE OF GOD check the text and remove eventual passwords if shown, before you post.

...Now, some people will claim that having 8-character indentations makes the code move too far to the right, and makes it hard to read on a 80-character terminal screen. The answer to that is that if you need more than 3 levels of indentation, you're screwed anyway, and should fix your program...

Where does this originate from? I'm curious about the 3 levels of indentation - that seems like very little to claim as the effective max.

I've never had any problems using CuteFTP. I'm no expert, but I noticed the following in your output:

257 "/d20reviews" is current directory.

When you first connect, you need to go 'up' one level, and then into 'www'. You shouldn't be in the 'd20reviews' directory - there's nothing in there.

I don't know if that's the problem - just a long shot.

Methinks Morrus knows more about computers than he lets on. ;)
