And the 3e/4e white dragon is pretty much an update of the 1e AD&D white dragon.GnomeWorks said:They look pretty similar to me.
I'm not a fan of the weird beak-thing going on (in either picture), but it's still pretty solid.
As I've mentioned int he other Daily Art Thread (why did we forsake that one?), the 4e warforged picture has far too short legs, knees that are bending backwards just a bit too much and a face that looks clunkier than the Eberron one.BendBars/LiftGates said:Bringing the conversation to the warforged piece, do you think it could possibly be only coincidence that they released the warforged art the day before the release of Iron Man?
But, to keep things on-topic, I like the warforged pic, but I liked the 3e warforged art more. This picture is fine as an illustration of warforged, but I think that the race is, for me, indelibly associated with the illustration from the ECS.
While I like the art overall, the PHB cover seems off to me too - just 2 characters posing. I'd rather see a party engaged in an adventuring action like a battle against a dragon (see the character record sheet cover), picking a lock while getting fired at by archers, planning a course of action over an aging map, deciphering a set of runes at an ominous gateway, etc.Saishu_Heiki said:Fair enough.
I am loving all of the art previews we are getting, but the PHB cover art seems off to me. Some people (who are conceivably artists or are educated about art) have said that it is employing a specific style, but I wouldn't know about that. All I know is that something about it just dosn't seem right.
