Damage Reduction and Damage per Round as well as Other Situations

Editing errors. Treat it like DR against that energy type (so ignore the second paragraph, that was just carried over from 3.0 by accident).

So you mean "per attack" and thus DR does not reduce damage from Acid Arrow in the second round? Or do you mean that is "each time" and thus reduces the damage at both the first and the second round?

Anyway, is there any clear errata or rule clarification for this?

Not for Melf's Acid Arrow, no. I don't know how it would work - I assume the energy resistance applies each round, however. ER has always nerfed Melf's, I don't see why 3.5 would change it.

Treat as a single attack, and don't try to analyze the logic :)

Lol, alright!

Each spike is a separate attack (each gets a separate attack roll).

Hmm, I don't know - I think I misstated what I wanted to ask. Let's say you have to run accross a long corridor covered with nails (pointing point up...) and in doing so you take a certain amount of damage per round of running (no attack roll). How would DR apply? How about falling damage - would you rule DR applies to falling damage? I would.

Mosquitoes are treated as swarms in D20 Modern. I presume you would treat them the same way in DnD.

Yes, I would say it definitely applies at least each round.

DR only applies to weapons or natural attacks not to other types of attacks.

MM (3.5) pg 307 "A creature with this special quality ignores damage from most weapons and natural attacks. . . The creature takes normal damage from energy attacks (even non-magical ones), spells, spell-like abilities, and supernatural abilities."

In this case, I would apply it to each 5 foot square. (And if you jumped over some, you'd take extra damage for landing in a square...)

DR does not apply to falling damage. See the definition from the rules cited above. It only applies to natural attacks and weapons - not to other effects. Since falling is neither of these it does not apply.

Now if applying it to a projectile weapon (e.g., a thrown boulder) is another thing. A weapoon is a weapon.
