Damage Reduction

To go strictly by the rules:
- Golems have not immunity (or even resistance) to fire, so fire might affect them.
- Fire from a torch is not spell-like or supernatural, so it will affect the golem

-> Torches can be used to damage golems. Of course, it will likely pound you to mush long before you fell it with a torch, but it will be damaged by it.

How positive are you of that?

"Immune to most forms of energy" would, as far as I can tell, most likely cover Fire damage...

You can't depend on that. Quite often, special qualities that apply to a monster type are left out of the individual description.

The golem immunities are so unclear...

However, fire immunity is not listed in the SQ entry.

I am inclined to agree with Hyper also.

The reason it says they are immune to 'most' forms of energy is because some golems are affected by some forms of energy...thus not being 'immune'.

Fire heals Iron golems. Certainly they are not 'damaged' by fire...but theoretically they are also not 'immune' to that type of energy as it does 'affect' them in some form or fashion. I believe the Iron golem is the sole reason they put 'most' instead of 'all' forms of energy.

Just my two coppers.

Hmmm just read about the part of fire effects. But I'm not sure whether normal fire counts as a fire effect, since that part is discussed in the magic immunity paragraph. A nonmagical torch might achieve what a fireball cannot.

Generally, "Immune to most forms of energy" does not state what energy they are immune, so it's either useless flavour text or the DM can decide. Until they write "Fire Immunity", it's not immune.

Vampiric Black Pudding, perchance?

Actually no. It's a mutated killer mimic. The backstory is that it ate a wizard and digested a Staff of the Archmagi. The magic altered its structure and made it this amorphous blob creature that can change its shape and size like a mimic but also has a super high DR and SR. A Vampiric Black Pudding sounds nasty though. I may have to modify one of the modules encounter to include one of these.... :)
