Dancing Weapons

I think it's just the plain BAB plus weapon bonus and the same goes for the damage. It's already pretty strong this way...

(I'm not sure about this, after all it uses character BAB, so why not use his strenght or feats?)

hmmm.

a) it's a +4 equivalent
b) Speed is a +3 equivalent
c) Speed lets you take one extra attack, at your maximum bonus, only when you take the full attack action
d) Dancing, the way I see it, would let you make a free full attack, for four rounds, every 4 rounds.
e) Dancing, as you guys see it, would still let you make a free full attack, for four rounds, every 4 rounds, but at reduced damage (basically 1d8+(1-5))
f) A fighter with a weapon enchanted with 2 elements (flaming and shocking, for example, for a total of +2) will probably deliver more damage in the round than the fighter in e), barring any elemental protection on the part of the opponents.

I don't know, your way of handling things makes the +4 equivalent for the dancing weapon REALLY steep, IMO.

Yes, but

1) It cannot be disarmed

2) It continues fighting if the character is held

3)It continues attacking if you do something else (cast a spell?)

And anyway that was just what it seemed more logical to me. If we just look at its cost it should be able to use combat feats...

Damage is important, but if your weapon lies on the ground it canhardly damage anyone! ;)

(BTW, can a dancing sword try to disarm an opponent? That would be useful, since it hardly could be a target for an AoO)

Nobody has posted the extraordinarily relevant text of the description...

"In all other respects, it is considered wielded or attended by the creature for all maneuvers and effects that target items (such as the sunder action or a heat metal spell)."

It does not state that it is treated as being wielded by the owner in any other way (except for the mention of using the wielder's BAB, of which strength has nothing to do with your BAB).

Hummmmmm....Dancing Weapons

I think everyone jsut about covered the baiscs but there is the little known fact that before one can get the uninhibited value of a dancing weapon one must first give it a few beers.

I mean come on who can be the only one dancing on a crowded battlefield without a little liquid courage? Not me, I gotta have a few first. There is like an additional +1 abbility that one can put on a dancing weapon that allows it to dance uninhibited without first having alchohol but the weapon must be female.
