What are your dumbest moments in gaming?

Here's mine:

This was way back in second edition... I was playing a halfling cleric of Yondolla. A few weeks prior to this game session my character had been pulled up into a tree by a bunch of spiders... The party mage, in an effort to "save" me. shot the whole thing with a fireball...

This fused parts of the armor to my skin... I was ugly, but hey... free natural armor!

Anyway skip ahead a few days... We were camped on the side of a river and we get attacked. I get too close to the edge and end up falling in. The current was strong, and my poor little halfling couldn't swim that well... Plus the fused pieces of armor were dragging on him... And also ripping off so he was drowning AN taking damage...

I ended up being rescued, but waterlogged and almost dead.

At which point I looked at my character sheet and said... hey wait a sec... I'm wearing a ring of water walking!

D'AOUGHT!!!!

A few days later I was eaten by a giant weasel.

I remember a particular moment from the ancient days of 1e.

"All four fighters force the door!"
"Allright. The door was unlocked and behind it are stairs going down."
"D'oh!"

Heh. Something similar happened to my mother, playing a thief.

She found a secret door, and tried to open it 'just a crack'. Unfortunately, triggering the mechanism caused it to open all the way, no peeking possible... and there were four gnolls on the other side. Combat ensues.

Later on, she finds another secret door. Screw subtlety, she decides. "I'm flinging the door wide and leaping through, sword in hand!", she declares.

Stairs going down.
