1-If people are observing you, even casually, you can’t hide.
2-Use the Hide skill even while being observed
Any insight on how Shadow Blend would work?
Alright thanks. This has been really helpful.
Only things left on my mind are that with concealment and completes his hide successfully he is entitled to a sneak attack on his first attack but for his others he would need do another hide check at -20 before each attack?
The Dark Creature is only being able to HiPs because of darkness so I figured Dark vision would negate it just like Blind sense or something would work I guess.Note that Darkvision doesn't come into this the way you seem to think, and neither does Darkvision interact in any way with the fact that HiPS may be (Ex) or (Su).
You need concealment or cover to hide, even with the (non-Shadowdancer version of the) HiPS ability. It may happen that you have concealment vs. a creature without darkvision, but no concealment vs. a creature with Darkvision - namely, in shadowy illumination or total natural darkness. So the question if the opponent has Darkvision or not only determines whether you can hide at all (without creating a diversion). Apart from that, Darkvision doesn't let you see hidden creatures anymore than normal vision.
"Shadow Blend (Su): In any conditions other than full daylight, a 7th-level Dark Moon Disciple can disappear into the shadows, gaining total concealment.
Artificial light does not negate this ability, though a daylight spell does.
This benefit replaces the wholeness of body class feature that the standard monk gains at 7th level."
"Shadow Blend (Su): In any conditions other than full daylight, a shadow creature can disappear into the shadows, giving it total concealment. Artificial illumination, even a light or continual flame spell, does not negate this ability, but a daylight spell will." I don't know if I use it if I'm always 100% concealed as long as I'm in the darkness or I need to activate it at some point with a free action perhaps?.
