Dark Creature Hide in Plain Sight

Just weird to think about since the ability is using shadows not as a supernatural ability to your advantage to hide where someone with Darkvision at the correct range doesn't care about that. Like Shadowdancer is supernatual so they don't care.

Note that Darkvision doesn't come into this the way you seem to think, and neither does Darkvision interact in any way with the fact that HiPS may be (Ex) or (Su).

I disagree.
It interacts in case of the (Ex)

When a creature's Hide requires cover or concealment, it means that he can't hide otherwise.

When the ability is Ex it means that there is NOTHING magical about it.

When a Creature with an Ex HIPS uses MUNDANE shadows to hide (the shadows ARE the concealment), it means that he hides within those shadows.

Darkvision sees through those MUNDANE shadows, therefore the creature with the HIPS lacks concealment in respect to the creature with Darkvision. This does not mean that the creature with Darkvision negates the concealment, it simply means that he sees through it. The shadows are still there, and the creature with HIPS can still hide from creatures without Darkvision.

This is greatly appreciated and I thank you guys a lot. Clearing up not taking penalties, having to bluff someone with darkvision when hiding in front of him, how to full attack with sneak attack, etc.

Going to be extremely helpful for me to explain to my DM.

Thanks!

Why do you think a Dark creature is "using shadows" to hide in plain sight? Maybe they're just more stealthy, or more adept at creating diversions (without taking up an action)? They can't do it in full daylight, but maybe that's just because they don't like daylight, it makes them want to get out of there, makes them feel insecure, whatever.

Never make the mistake of confusing rules with your perception of how their effects can be interpreted in-game.

So to come back to those...

"Shadow Blend (Su): In any conditions other than full daylight, a 7th-level Dark Moon Disciple can disappear into the shadows, gaining total concealment.
Artificial light does not negate this ability, though a daylight spell does.
This benefit replaces the wholeness of body class feature that the standard monk gains at 7th level."

"Shadow Blend (Su): In any conditions other than full daylight, a shadow creature can disappear into the shadows, giving it total concealment. Artificial illumination, even a light or continual flame spell, does not negate this ability, but a daylight spell will." I don't know if I use it if I'm always 100% concealed as long as I'm in the darkness or I need to activate it at some point with a free action perhaps?.

This ability is much simpler:

1-Irelevent to the Hide skill
2-Standard action to activate (Su)
3-Can always activate it, except when under full daylight or daylight spell.

Thanks Empirate & Jimlock. This has been very helpful to me as well. Unfortunately, I cannot XP Jimlock.
