what I've mentioned thus far is really the only similarity between my vampire background and white wolf's.....
I'm going to have to disagree with you, here. It looks far more influenced by that setting than you claim. It's also terribly similar to some of the ideas in the RPG
In Nomine. I believe that the Aasimar and Tiefling will need to be changed (in name), as they are not Open Content
Mine and theres is very similar up to when cain is banished to Nod....(which that portion is actually from the bible...not written by White Wolf)
True, but drawing upon those common themes, even though taken directly from the Bible, immediately marks the work as derivative of Vampire.
In my writings... Cain is not a vampire...but is actually still human...he does take on lilith as a wife....(Lilith is a Nephilim Sorceress in my writings)
If you are interested in keeping this based on Biblical and Hebraic lore (which is what you seem t be basing this on) you might want to re-think your idea of what a "nephilim" is.
In Genesis 6, it talks about the Sons of God taking daughters of Men as wives. The offspring were the Nephilim, who became the mighty heroes of the day. God imposed a curse on mankind, limiting Man's lifespan, so it could be assumed these Nephilim were immortal or very long-lived before that curse.
The phrase "Sons of God" appears in four places in the Old testament, and several other places in Biblical
Apocrypha. Each time, it refers to angels, and
not demons. The nephilim were the offspring of the divine and the mortal, according to these legends. The name itself comes from the verb
pala, and translates as "extraordinary men".
and the combination of cain's human lineage and Lilith's angelic/sorcerous lineage
Again, from a hystorical and mythical view, Lilith was not descended from
anything - she was created by God, as Adam was created. There cannot be any lineage associated with her - she was the FIRST woman.
Many bits of folklore identify her with demons after she was cast out from Eden, but this is by association, and not lineage.
which are native to the lands of Nod.....and because of the nature of nod..(it being a land of eternal night)
This, also, is a concept introduced by White Wolf. In the ancient texts, it is described as a "land of no borders and no center", implying a vast and desolate place, in contrast with the idyllic Eden. The name itself can mean "Wandering" or "exile". The Darkness / Night aspect begun with the folklore that attributed it as being a place of "unclean spirits", and not with an actual absence of light.
The bloodlust and need to drink blood is inherited from Lilith who was cursed when she fell from grace and became a daemon....
Except that she was not among the fallen (see above).
The houses of vampires come from the ruling houses of Kingdom of Enoch...They are not founded by direct children of Cain and Lilith as in White Wolf's mythology but more by legendary Vampiric Heroes......
But the idea is directly lifted from White Wolf's stories. Biblically, yes, Cain built the city and named it for his son, but White Wolf expanded that idea into a city built by Caine and his Children (vampires.)
A Few Examples.......
- Drakis was the first Vampire to rule Enoch (after cain's ascension into divinity)
- Ahriman was the most honored and most powerful of Vampiric Wizards....he also was a very powerful sorceror
- Erapis was the first to achieve the blessings of cain after his ascension and thus became the first cleric of cain and founded the church of cain.
Even if the names and concepts are original (although White Wolf has a bloodline known as the Ahrimanes), they're
still Vampire Clans, in the manner of White Wolf's game.
I'm not trying to tell you the idea isn't without merit, but I'm trying to point out that your "New d20 game"
isn't new - it's recycling Vampire and In Nomine (with maybe a little of the Nephilim RPG tossed in), and many of the ideas show that you don't understand the history and mythology you seek to incorporate into the setting.
I'd recommend removing the ties or similarities to popular gaming lines like Vampire and In Nomine - it'll make the game much more appealing in the end.
