Dark Sun - 3.5 (Closed)

I'm not in much of a position to answer a lot of game questions right now, as most of my game material is in storage because I'm moving. I can give you definitive answers by early next week, I promise. It's just I have limited internet access and limited access to my Dark Sun resources. Seem like a silly time to start a game? In hindsight, I could have planned it a bit better, but so be it.

I remember Dark Sun having different terrain types for desert (rocky badland, sand waste, salt plains, etc.) so I imagine each of those would be a type of terrain I would use.

Also, animal types seem to best match the flavor when they go reptile of insectoid, versus mammal. There are many species of common domesticated and wild animals of the large bug or lizard variety. Also, I recall pterrans being closely tied to pterrax but I'm not sure of their in-game effect. You'll have to wait on that, I'm afraid, until I get my books back.

So, this game is going to be happening and I promise we'll have a game by early next week. I'll start a Rogue's Gallery when I get a chance to really go over the character sheets. Thanks for everyone's enthusiasm.

If you want to fit with the setting, I say get some kind of bug. You can find an acceptable list of animal companions for druids on page 1 in Terrors of Athas.

I made two builds both tanks. First is a cleaving Half Giant and the second is a disarming Mul. Review them both and let me know which one would be a better fit. The only thing is that I don't have a description or background for the gaint yet. I figure the gaint could be a hired hand for the templar? Maybe a bodyguard. The Mul is a free slave.

D'oh. I only looked at the core rules doc they had, so I never saw the alternate Druid companion list. I'll take a look over that and come up with an option or two. Thanks for pointing it out. :)

FYI, the Giant is effectively level 2 since the HD count as 2 racial levels (max HP and 4x Skill points for the first one).
 



Bloodweaver: The mul window contains no data that I can see on my computer. The half-giant looks appropriately devastating, though. Just to warn you, he will be a natural target in combat situation but I'm sure you'll find a way to repay the enemy for their attention.

I am moving this weekend, so from Friday until Monday afternoon, I will have no access. Most likely by Tuesday, I will have had a chance to go through characters, find any problems (if there are any), and provided enough background fluff to explain why you're all on the caravan, where you are going, and what you know. I look forward to diving into the setting for the first time in a while. I'll give you a Rogue's Gallery link by Tuesday at the latest. See you then.
 

From the companion list in the Terrors of .pdf, I was looking at a Jhakar for Quaketongue's animal companion, but then I noticed it has an Int of 3. I thought I remembered reading somewhere on the boards that animal companions have to be 2 or lower. If someone more rules-savvy than me could confirm that, I'll give the companion list another look (If I forego the Jhakar, I think it's between a Lesser boneclaw or an Erdlu, as they're the only other reptilian critters left).
