Dark Sun Coinage

Insomnia is raging so I made a rendition of a Tyrian Tenbit I thought I'd share. They have the same value as a gold piece and are scored to be able to be snapped into ten pieces each with the value of a silver. I figured with the iron-rich soil of the Tyr region they would have a rusty color.

badmojojojo: That's the look I was going for..a fired-clay ceramic. That's why I mentioned the iron in the soil giving it the reddish color. Thanks!

May I ask if you found somewhere in 4e where it says that they still use bits of coins broken off or if you are just going by the old Darksun?

I was going by the old materials on that since I liked the flavor of it so much. The only reference I see in the new stuff is the sidebar that seems to say there are separate ceramic pieces for cp, sp, gp, and pp denominations. Basically a ceramic coin that says "1 GP" on it and so forth. It's pretty much fluff, and I just happen to like the old way more so that's the way I think I'm going to go with it.

Yeah I agree with you. I had thought they "cliff noted" the 4e setting book a little too much on the fluff.

Indeed. I've pulled a lot of great info out of the pdfs of the old 2nd edition stuff as well as the books I still have from back then. Particularly the Dune Trader supplement, with its great info on various trade goods (both legal and shady) and the merchant houses.
