Spelljammer Dark Sun confirmed? Or, the mysterious case of the dissappearing Spelljammer article...

I speculate ...

Each of these "wildspaces" is a setting that 5e is working on, and will be revealed in the future.

Realmsspace. The default setting is already revealed.

Eberron. Apparently, Eberron cannot be reached by the astral plane?

Athasspace. Athas of Dark Sun was revealed accidentally. It has a dark sun in the center of the system. Possibly even a black hole.

Doomspace. Alternate name for Athas. Athas is − nearly − impossible to access. However there was a difficult way to do it via the gray plane, which is now shadowfell in 5e. So the "doom" is this shadow route.

Wildspace (top). The "wildspace" at the top of the astral plane map has a planet (black circle) at its center. This is Oerth of Greyhawk. Like the ancient Ptolemaic cosmology, the sun and other planets revolve around the earth. The decentered sun is currently hidden off the edge of the image.

Astral Dominions are the outer planes, including farrealms and so on. Spelljammer = Planescape. Namely, Planejammer. That said. Spelljammer focuses on the astral sea. The lore that is in Mordenkainens Tomb of Foes and Volos will show up in a future Planescape product, possibly as part of Spelljammer dominions, or possibly as separate adventures.
Well, there are 11 marked locations on this map, one of which is pretty clearly the Githyanki city.

There are 12 planet of the Week style modules in the Spelljammer Adventure Campaign.

It seems reasonable that this particular map is for the Campaign, and each of these Realms will get a module.

And this is what "cameo" might mean.

In Spelljammer the astral elves are there to be close to Corellon.

Probably one of the three astral dominions on the map is Arborea, the realm of Corellon and Chaotic Good.

Possibly: given that the namesake.of the campaign is on the cover, I suppose space Elf shenanigans will be central to the campaign.

Why does it need to be a non-Magic setting to count? Those are now official D&D 5e worlds.

I guess you can wait and see if they allow orcs and tieflings and the like in the upcoming Dragonlance book.
The Magic settings are really treated as separate as possible while still being 5e worlds. Their own setting announcement made a point of saying "non-Magic worlds". They don't seem to think of them the same way, so I don't see why I should.

But they could also treat Dark Sun separately. This Athasspace/Doomspace mix-up makes it seem like they probably won’t, but they could.

Doomspace could be a spinf-off or a "cousin" of Dark Sun.

Have you realised? The most of "wildspheres" are a point of light within the center, the sun, but this "athaspace" is like a black point in the center, surrounded by several asteroid belts.

The official DS web hinted in a tale something about the sorcerer-kings were getting ready for an "alien menace".

Sweet. That would mean two dead gods feature in the module. Always loved that idea.

Well historically you couldn't plane travel to athas or summon anything but elementals. It was supposed to be almost completely cut off from the other planes with, I think....only the ethereal and primal earth, air, fire, water planes. Thus the preserver, defiler thing for magic as the world has no connection, to the fey I presume. Spelljamming could be the only way to get to Athas.
