Daunton's Dead Shadow (DM:Ukingsken, Judge:????)

Magnus gleefully brought his staff down again, pushing a wave of sound and fur before him. No longer immediately confronted by a row of gnashing teeth he looked up at the crossbowman, glanced around furtively, and then decided that discretion was the better part of valor and high tailed it behind the shrubbery.

No problem; I'd have done that anyway. It would have been a cheap shot to make you keep them in order when switching them was obviously better. When If I drop a PC, I don't want to do it with a cheap shot. ;)

Ha ha!

Grakk has a tendency of doing irrational things when he gets mad. One day it may cost him his life...hopefully not anytime soon.

The rumble deep in Kamotz chest begins to amplify, resonating as a throaty growl. The Pack that dared to challenge Kamotz for supremacy watches the shifter with increasing concern. Then Kamotz stops growling. He stops moving. Silent, and still the shifter just stared at the Hammerer. Inhaling with a rapid inward motion, Kamotz opened his body fully to Lauto, and let forth a holy howl! Violet light erupted from the shifters mouth, accompanied by the viciously piercing note of Death. The violet light invigorated those who Kamotz felt as his Pack, empowered both his allies and himself.

The opposing wolves bayed an awful response, their bodies physically drained, even the Hammerer felt the heavy weight of the inevitable. When the sound ceased, and the black light faded, Kamotz stood wreathed in the violet glow of Lauto's blessing.

Vrrsk't walks toward the lone dwarven bolter in the distance, Stand and be judged by the radiance of Apoli. Challenges the dragonborn of the bolter.

First a thank you to Cov and the party, for being patient while I resolve my scheduling issues. I may be a 4 day out of the week poster at the moment, but I'm working hard to get back to a daily routine that fits my favorite hobby in.

Next applause to the controllers for such effective and deadly sweeping! (I know Morvanon is secondary controller, but that was first class work.)

[sblock=Party only info]

[sblock=Not for Covaithe]

With the way powers have been conserved, I vote the party pushes this encounter forward into the house, and possibly prevent escape or destruction of evidence. 5 minutes is a long head start, and I think Kamotz with Vrrsk't's help, could keep the party alive no matter Covaithe's devious plots.

Especially now that Kamotz has used the daily, and shifting. It means even more healing if we extend the encounter.

What do you guys think?

Kamotz

Minor Longtooth Shifting Effect: Until the end of the encounter or until unconscious Kamotz gains +2 to damage rolls. In addition Kamotz gains regeneration 2 for as long as he is bloodied.
(So excited this is the first time I've gotten to use this power!!)

Standard Beacon of Hope,
19 vs will on Hyena 2, hit
13 vs will on Hyena 3, hit
15 vs will on Wolf 2, hit
21 vs will on Wolf 3, hit
19 vs will on Dire Wolf, hit
22 vs will on Hammerer, hit
Targets are all weakened TE of their NT.
Effect: Kamotz and all allies in the burst regain 9 hit points, and Kamotz' healing powers restore +5 hit points until the end of the encounter.

Kamotz at 19 HP no longer bloodied (Regen suppressed, +2 to damage still)
Vixo at 33 HP
Grakk regains 9 HP

Move Shift to P14

Roll lookup

Vrrsk't

Double Move Z8

Minor Divine Challenge on Bolter
Effect: Mark target; -2 to attack anyone else, takes 6 radiant damage first time it makes an attack that does not include Vrrsk't.

[sblock=ooc, meta]I don't mind you guys plotting behind my back. But, I feel I should point out that I use email notifications to tell me when to check my threads, and ENWorld ignores sblocks when it sends the notification email. So there's a chance I might inadvertently see your plans in my inbox.

I haven't seen any such plans, yet, but if you really care about me not seeing it, you'll want to use PMs or offsite email or something.

Light plays off the armor and scales of Vrrsk't.

No worries, if it was really secret, it wouldn't be in the sblocks ;)

Round 5

Grakk's blow passes harmlessly past the foe in front of him. Frustrated, he moves toward a bigger foe, shrugging off a number of feeble attacks en route.

Morvannon and Magnus shatter the night with twin blasts of thunder, sending three of the beasts tumbling back from the force of it, and dropping a fourth in its tracks.

Vixo takes advantage of Grakk's bold movement to circle behind one of the beasts and sink his blade deep into its vitals. Somehow it remains standing, but only just.

Kamotz growls, his heritage responding to the challenge of these lesser canines. But he is no mere beast; he is a servant of the god of death himself, and his attack takes the form of a holy word. Violet radiance frames him in a nimbus of holy power. Kamotz and Vixo feel restored, and nearby enemies grow haggard and pale.

Vrrsk't marches after the crossbow wielder, calling divine judgement on him as well.

The bolter backs away from the advancing dragonborn and coolly fires another bolt at him, but it glances off one of the plates on his armor.

Three of the beasts swarm Morvannon, but between the shadows surrounding him and the aftereffects of Kamotz' prayer, Morvannon sustains only minor cuts and scrapes.

Kamotz is slightly worse off, being harried by the rest of the pack, including its leaders. But he acquits himself well, and though the great wolf bears him to ground again, the power of his god keeps him alive and fighting.

[sblock=ooc]Grakk misses. His move provokes 2 OAs leaving P11: Hyena 1 misses, Wolf 3 misses. He provokes one more on leaving Q12: another miss.

Morvannon moves, curses wolf 2, and hits with thunderwave. wolf 2 takes 10, hyena 3 takes 8, and hyena 1 is killed. Morvannon teleports.

Magnus hits with thunderwave. All three targets are blooded.

Vixo crits hyena 2, nearly killing it in one shot.

Kamotz goes all canine himself. He is prone, so no shifting. I'm going to assume you want to stand before your Beacon of Hope, so as not to take the -2 to rolls. BoH hits everyone, weakening them. I'm not going to mark it down, since it expires at the end of their turns, which I'm about to do now. Kamotz and Vixo regain 9 HP.

Vrrsk't moves and challenges the bolter.

The hammerer fails to recharge shield bash. He misses Kamotz, despite flanking.

wolf 3 circles behind the hammerer to attack Kamotz as well: miss. Okay, IC, this is getting ridiculous. My last 5 d20 rolls were 1, 3, 3, 3, 1.

Hyena 3 charges Morvannon: crit for 8 damage, halved to 4 by weakness. That's better, IC.

Wolf 1 and 2 move to flank morvannon. A miss and a hit for 6, halved to 3. Morvannon is knocked prone from the hit. Never mind, forgot concealment. That's two misses.

Hyena 2 attacks Kamotz, crit for 15 damage, halved to 7. Kamotz is bloodied again.

Dire wolf attacks Kamotz as well, 30 vs. AC hits for 8 damage, halved to 4, and Kamotz is knocked prone again.

The bolter backs away from Vrrsk't and fires at him with aimed shot: 21 vs. AC misses.
