This is sad to hear.
His 1E DMG cover is what I always think of when I think of D&D.

Sad news indeed.

The first picture of his that I saw was the cover of the "blue book" boxed set (the wizard and fighter fighting the dragon). That cover defined the essence of D&D for me, and to this day still does. His other work (especially the 1e PHB and DMG covers) showed me more of the amazing wonderland that is D&D.

Thank you Dave for showing us your visions. You will be missed.

Very sad

I still remember running around my yard fighting the monsters that I had seen in the original monster manual with a stick sword, before i even understood the stats besides the pictures.

His art ignited my imagination, and began a love of this hobby, something that has been going strong some 20+ years.

His art sparked my imagination at a young age and help to bind me to this game, and this hobby, that I still love some 25 years later.
