DC20 Kickstarter launch on June 4th

I think the only measure of actual success for these things -- DC20, MCDM, Daggerheart, ToV, etc -- is what support they get a year or two after initial fulfillment. Because when you have a YouTube channel, funding doesn't seem to be a problem. But will anyone actually play the thing?

If you raise a million dollars, does it matter? Ya, that's a bit snarky, but still .....

The more I read the rules, the less interested I am. But I'm happy for DC and everyone working on this.

Makes me wish I'd had more to say every week and kept my YouTube channel going better!

Haha Im in this post...
Did you publish a heartbreaker? Do you have a link to it?

This is what I'm really looking forward to seeing.

Will these upstarts that made a boatload be able to keep the boat afloat? Will they produce supplements, and additional content for their games, and will the fans who made the kickstarter such a success keep coming back for more?

I'm really hopeful, but my skeptic side says otherwise.

I haven't gotten a chance to watch any of the D&D tubers talk about it, but I saw that a lot of them are.. Has anyone watched some? Are they paid sponsor spots or are they just people genuinely stoked on this new system?
They seem genuinely excited - or at least promoting it for a friend. I haven't seen any that have been paid.
I've watched Professor DM, Bob World Builder, and a few others.

Shadowdark is seemingly an example of a success in this regard, so it isn't impossible.

I think this has reached critical mass.
how do you define critical mass? Longterm viability / products being released?

It has beat the entire funding period for 13th Age 2e in its first 24 hours. Everybody's talking about it. Will probably end up bigger than MCDM RPG. Maybe bigger than Daggerheart.
will see how it does WRT MCDM and Daggerheart. MCDM made 4.6M off 30k backers, not sure DC20 will make half that, but it could. I doubt it can do more than that however, we will know in a few days whether it can keep enough momentum. We have no numbers for Daggerheart

Didn't see this coming.

I made a point of not watching any of them. No idea if they’re honest or paid. Considering the hyperbolic nature of the pull quotes on the Kickstarter page, they will likely be overblown, too. No real way to tell if they’re honest but most will say if they’re sponsored.
