DDM: Raistlin

It is also the perfect example of a mini that deserves a repaint with different stats for the repaint.

Nah. Repaints should just be repaints. They should not have different stats. It might fit Raistlin and his amazing ability to own more than one coat ( ;) :p ), but it would mean that some people get access to stuff others simply can't (unless they release the second set of stats on the website and allow it to be used for the normal version, too).

I'd rather see him as another figure with his other robes on.

Any idea if there was a method mentioned in the phb - or was that a 2nd ed. thing?

"Each ability is determined by random number generation. The referee has several methods of how this random number generation should be accomplished suggested to him in the DUNGEON MASTERS GUIDE. The Dungeon Master will inform you as to which method you may use to determine your character's abilities." - AD&D PHB page 9

Cheers!

What's with all the bickering about old ability score generation methods? If you didn't roll extremely high or abysmally low, ability scores usually meant squat anyway.

I need the black robed Raistlin. That's the one that will be more powerful.

A few of us had agreed that it's good that they chose the Red Robed one, since that's a Raistlin we can actually put stats to.

The Black Robed version from Dragonlance Legends was an incredibly difficult stat block to write. I still get people telling me that it's too powerful, or not powerful enough. That it isn't optimized, it's broken, it's not reflective of the character in the novels, it's too reflective of the character in the novels and not enough of the modules, etc.

The version we ended up including in Legends of the Twins (the sourcebook covering alternate timelines and the Dragonlance Legends trilogy) is supposed to represent Raistlin at the Dwarfgate Wars, in War of the Twins. It isn't the godlike Raistlin, who will never be given stats according to Margaret Weis, and it isn't Fistandantilus (who appears in the Towers of High Sorcery sourcebook as he was in Chris Pierson's Kingpriest Trilogy). Although, it never has been proven that it was Raistlin who won that duel...

Cheers,
Cam

I wouldn't worry about being able to put stats to any Black Robed version of Raistlin. After all, they gave Elminster his very own stats. :)
