Deadlands d20 In-Character (Turn 1)

Round 3,

Scarlet, this round you only have a partial action so you move about half-way to the Sheriff's office. You do get over to the other side of the road by the buildings though.

Running Wolf closes her eyes and whispers to the spirits Ritual roll 17+8 =25, success but you also must make a touch attack to hit Dustin while he is still rolling around in combat with the beast base melee attack, roll 7 +1 (melee bonus) +4 (as he is on the ground) =12, Success. You heal 1d8+2, roll 5+2 Vitality. Dustin you heal 8 Vitality As the beast is focused on Dustin it doesn't notice you and you draw no AoO Beast spot roll 2+ 6 spot = 8, DC 10 at least as it is fighting.

Thomas, you see that Dustin has a look of horror come over Dustin and he is pulling away, so you dely in firing (as there is a good chance you could hit the guy who DOESN'T have claws!)

The Beast/Deputy is trying to break away, as Dustin does not resist this round he does... almost instandly it/he springs to his feet... only to be shot by Thomas (delay, you will reacte just before the beast from now on) Attack roll 8+5 =13 hit! Damage roll 2d8, 6+3 = 9 points of Vitality. You notice the shot accually hit the beast but hit only made it/him shug a bit! As you delyed this round I was not sure you would rapid shot. Next round, you reacte before him and I will assume that you do shot him twice that round.

Dustin you crawl away from the creature as it springs to it feet. You scared something fierce, but you don't have to run (OCC note you don't get the minus to damage with guns, but you have used your whole action this turn to pull back! Also you are feeling a little better after Running Wolf touched you)

Felix, you draw your pistol as a half action, and you can either fire at the beast as it gets to its feet or you can cast another spell... you do notice that the Deputy looks right at you as it gets him, and his eyes are full of hate and malice!

As the creature turns towards him, Felix mutters Hell's Bells! .

He moves forward towards the abomination, his pearly white teeth gritted, cards in one hand, his pistol in the other and mumbles another incantation.

OOC: Felix will try to cast another Soul Blast, Hexslingin' at +7.

Scarlet continues her dash towards the Sheriff's office. When she reaches the brick wall, she presses up against it and takes a look around the corner to see who's fighting and find out what's happening.

Stopping before the Sheriff's door, Dustin spins around, his eyes threatening to tear out of their sockets. He can't believe what he's seeing, but he knows of only one way to deal with something that frightens the stufifng out of him. Shakily and with trembling hands, he draws his gun and fires erratically at the creature, attempting to kill it.

Felix mutters a few choice words and lets lose with another hex! Hexslingin' roll 13+7 =20, success and a hit! (well above the Deputy's 12 AC) Damage roll 10!+2 =12 points. You are now down 6 Spell Points
...and the Deputy reals back as if struck by a hammer. He stays on his feet but scream a curse "Foul Hexer! The master will make you pay for that and allow me to feast on your soul for a hundred year!"

Round 4,

Scarlet makes it to the corner of the brick wall before the fighting (you are about 30' away) and glances at the fight. You see one of the people act like he was punch by an invisible fist or something and hear his strange curse...

Running Wolf, you have healed Dustin a bit but now the beast that appeared to be the Deputy is standing. You are kneeing (half action to stand) but are right next to his if you wish to reacte.

Felix what are your plans this round? Thomas you are Rapid Firing and Dustin you are drawing your pistol (half action) and firing this round... will post in just a second

With that, Running Wolf rears back and throws her tomahawk at the back of the doppleganger deputy. (ooc: +4 to hit)

Continue Turn 4,

Running Wolf rears back and throws her tomahawk at the back of the Deputy Attack roll 4+4+2 [flaking] =10 miss (unless you want to spend a Fate Chip!)

Thomas you see the Deputy thing is turning to flee and you open up on him/it with a double blast from your Winchester Rapid Shot, each attack roll is -2, so Attack #1 11+2 =13 hit!, second attack roll 6+2= 8 miss (unless you spend a Fate Chip). Damage roll from your first attack roll 3+8 +1 (damage is 2d8+1) =12 points of Vitality! OCC BTW you attack last round did 10 points of damage as I forgot the +1
AND a horrible thing happens... as the Deputy turns to flee the first shot from Thomas makes the creatures skin split open! It starts for fall off the thing that looked like the Deputy and causes you all a look of horror and revolution!

New Fear check, but +2 as you all know something is really wrong with the Deputy... well except Scarlet, you don't get no bonus...
Scarlet fear check roll 19+0 (will) you succeed but are disturbed anyway.
Running Wolf fear check roll natural 20! this monster must die! Also your Knowledge (Indian Lore) roll 19+6 =25 tells you that this creature is a Skinwalker, a horror daemon that kills and wears the skins of it victims!
Thomas fear check 5+2 (will)+2 =9 failure (unless you spend a Fate Chip) you will be -3 to attack rolls and saving throws against this creature! The sight of this chills you to your very core...
Dustin fear check 4 +2 (will) +2 -3 (original fear check) failure again (unless you wish to spend a Fate Chip)... this just can't be real! You are just so shocked that you can't fire this turn... unless the Fates intervenes
Felix fear check 17 +3 (will) +2 =21, success and you can react normal. This is a powerful spirit daemon that is for sure!

Depending on what you all do, you see that as the Deputy's skin seems to split and peel away from the thing that was wearing it... there is a great deal of blood and gore falling off of it! The thing that appears outside of it looks to be a human, but with no skin. You see blood and muscle tissue and internal organs... it is just to horrible to look upon for to long! The creatures hisses at you with a mouth full of razor sharp teeth and a weird tube like tongue. Long claws can be seen extending from the index and middle fingers of each hand... and then it turns and tries to run away on all fours (looping along like a weird looking wolf or something!)

Eyes wide, Felix aims his Colt Lightning at the abomination and opens up.

OOC: Don't have Gunslingin' so it defaults to Dex +3?

Scarlet puts one hand over her mouth to stifle a scream of surprise. What on earth is that thing??

Reaching up under the hem of her dress, she draws forth a hidden derringer holstered to her leg. She cradles the tiny gun in her delicate hands and takes aim at the skinless monstrosity.

(OOC It almosts seems like it'd be a full-round action to draw from under her clothes, but if she has time she'll open fire too).

Running Wolf curses her poor throw and begins to chant a prayer to the spirits of the earth. Bind this filth in your embrace, and I shall remove it from your skin, mother earth!

[OOC: I will cast Entangle on the Skinwalker. Ritual +8.]
