Deadliest fighter build

D1

Mobius strip. One side, one edge surface-> D1.
It may not be in raw but if it can be made (or simulated), it can be used in the game. After all we are occasional asked to use d3 and while I am pretty sure you can make one (equilateral triangle cross section with sharp cone at ends so it does not stand on end) or can do d6 divided by two. My point is that sometimes we are directed to use dice which are not part of the base set. It fact there exist variety of dice out there for gamers to use.
There is d5,d7,d16,d24,d30,d100( and i mean 100 sided polyhedron)

I am not saying that it is should be allowed, just that it is legal by the rules. And that why we have a DM/GM/Storyteller in the games. So (s)he can see such situations and say "NO! ... Nice try though":D

If you have not realized it, my original post was supposed to be humorous.
I found the topic entertaining, all the suggestions are powerful and interesting. Though it raises a question:"How powerful can you make you character so that you have fun, but without ruining the game?" 1st and 2nd edition have less HP per creature, so those builds are even more deadly. Heck demon lords have around 200 hit points.
However there is always a way IMO to negate any build advantage if needed, archers are not as effective at close quarters or against foes they cannot see (be it thief or invisible stalker). In previous editions DR (or just plain stoneskin) can render physical attacks infective. Once you add up magic like protection from magic edge weapons(3rd level wizard spell), well the build is not useless just not as powerful as you may have thought it was.
The goal of the game is to have fun, what that is depend on the person and even then changes over time. Some days I feel like trying to win by spending time on creative strategy using terrain, known weaknesses and coordinated team efford. Other times I just want to slay things, having my charecter charge into melee headlessly. I just try to let my DM before hand how I want to roll that night.

Sorry, sorry. Rant off.

(each segment equalling one round of combat, and allowing triple rate of fire per the DUNGEON MASTERS GUIDE for missile weapons)...

Wow, in all my years of re-reading the 1E DMG, I never noticed that. However, the example of combat just a few pages later in the DMG doesn't make use of this rule, instead giving normal rate of fire during the surprise segment, so I'd think twice before using it. (And PCs will appreciate that when they're on the other end of the surprise roll.)

Also, as if the levels of damage given for the bow specialist weren't enough, magic bonuses for both bow and arrow count, and for the bow specialist at point blank range, strength counts as well, and no reason to stop at normal strength when there are magic girdles out there. So +5 arrow, +5 bow, and girdle of storm giant strength for +12 can get tacked on to the normal max of 16 hp, totaling 38 hp. If your bow specialist is 13th+ level, that's 4x3 shots/segment x 3 segments, or 36 shots, meaning 1368 hp max damage.

...although going with the OP's rules of only using equipment in the books, we're limited to a +1 bow and +4 arrows (although a pregen character in WG6 had a +2 bow), and max damage per arrow comes down to 33 hp, resulting in a total for 36 arrows of 1188 hp damage.

Before anyone gets too carried away with the thought of (almost) taking out three heads of pantheons in one round, remember that a Dex of 18+ wipes out all 3 of those surprise segments. And although I don't think D&DG explicitly states it anywhere, I wouldn't think deities could be surprised at all.
