D&D (2024) Deadliest Monsters in the 2025 Monster Manual

Nerd Immersion did a video revealing the numbers of monsters per challenge rating. Unfortunately no CR 26, 27, 28 or 29 monsters. The only new CR 20+ monsters seem to be:

Animal Lords CR 20
Arch Hags CR 21
Elemental Cataclysm CR ?
Blob of Annihilation CR 23
Colossus CR 25

Was hoping to see a few more but I guess its better than 2014.

Interesting that the second most powerful creature is the Colossus, but it's basically an artificially creatured divine Avatar powered by a God.

They have said this is a 'new' monster but is it not simply an update of 4E's "Godforged Colossus"?

As regards the lore, I suppose having things god-related makes sense at CR 20 or above, isn't the Blob of Annihilation the remains of a dead god...or something like that?

It pleases me that the Shadow Dragon is on that list.

It baffles me that the Gas Spore is.

What about the Banshee? No longer so much a threat?
