Death from natural causes?

from the srd
Age
When a character becomes venerable, the DM secretly determines her maximum age. When the character reaches her personal maximum age, she dies of old age at some time during the following year, as determined by the DM.

also I would rule Reincarnate would not work because your soul is still old and don't want to come back.

Are you saying that Human souls tire out quicker than Elven souls? ;)

What about an Elf reincarnated as a Bear?
Does he live as long as an Elf because his soul is really strong? Or does he live as long as a Bear (which I would think) and then goes to the afterlife with a strong healthy soul? ;)

no i saying when you die of old age regardless of what character race you are I would not allow Reincarnate to bring you back.
It appears some people are use Reincarnate as fountain of youth.
"I am old and slow and may die tomorrow. "

"That's okay daddy druid will reincarnate as a house cat they we will polymorph you back to elf and then youhave a 1000 yrs."

I tend to agree. The spirit of the rules is basically when your time is up nothing, nothing can ever bring you back.
Thus the whole appeal of becoming undead.
If Wish and Miracle can't do it, I don't see why Reincarnation should be able to.
Why would old evil archmages strive for lichdom? They just need to have someone cast Reincarnation on them and thier good to go for another hundred years or more.

Well, then you have the Lich's mind or memory slowly just drifting away, as it gets older and older.

Somehow, I can see a Lich that's basicly a brittle skeleton, sitting in a rocking chair, stroking a zombie cat. He'd mumble and talks of the good old days.
