D&D 5E Death Saves! Let’s see em!

I have a barb with lucky and he was crunched! His very first Death Save in an impending TPK.

In one of our games, we don't roll death saves until after either someone checks on the character (including trying to heal them) or 5 death saves have accumulated.

While this removes the chance to roll a 20 and come right back up in combat, we've found it adds a lot to the tension and encourages teammates to come to their downed comrade's assistance with a little more alacrity than they might otherwise.
