Living the middle of China Miéville´s Perdido Street Station currently.

I envy you...I really do (I only wish I could re-experience my first reading).

Now get off the stupid computer and finish reading! ;)

The next novel I start is likely to be either Artemis Fowl & The Lost Colony by Eoin Colfer or Terrier by Tamora Pierce, both of which I bought today. But I'll only read those when I have a decent amount of time to dedicate to them.

On the train to and from work, I only read non-fiction, as I find this easier to 'pick up and put down' in short segments than I do novels. I'm currently reading A History of the Guards, which pretty much gives away the subject in the title. The 'Guards' in question are the British Army's Household Guards: Grenadier, Coldstream, Scots, Irish, Welsh, Life and Royals.

Finished up Tigana by Guy Gavreil Kay over the weekend
It was my first experince with Kay. The man writes some beautiful prose.
It was a very good book. Fairly typical high fantasy plot, but very well executed none the less. Well worth the read. Full review in my blog

Started on Starship Troopers by Robert A Heinlein. Well past time I read some Heinlein.

If you enjoyed Tigana, I highly recommend Lions of al-Rassan, probably his finest work. :)

...and I won't comment on Heinlein... ;)

As for myself, I finished two by Phil Rickman -- Man in the Moss and The Chalice and am now reading David Sedaris' Holidays On Ice -- just the sort of cynicism I need in the wake of all the muzaked-carols about at the moment...

Just finished Return to Quag Keep by Andre Norton and Jean Rabe which was cool; I need to map that place out! Also finished Bill O'Reilly's Culture Warrior which was interesting; to stay in bounds that's all I'll say. :) Now reading the second book of Robin Hobb's Farseer trilogy, Royal Assassin, enjoying the books alot. Next up, Secrets of Dripping Fang series by Dan Greenburg and Shadows over Baker Street which is Sherlock Holmes dealing with the Chtulhu mythos. My wife recomended them both; should be fun.

Finished up Starship Troopers last night.
Very good book. Heinlein certainly uses it to express his beliefs on society, but that doens't mean its not a great book. It's such a highly influential work that I almost felt like I'd read it before. The Forever War and Enders Game definately take their lead from Starship Troopers.

Full review should be up in my blog once blogger stops acting up.

Started in on Blindsight by Peter Watts. From everything I'm hearing this should be a frontrunner for the Hugo next year. In an interesting move, Watts has released the novel under The Creative Commons Liscence. And its availble to read for free here

Just finished Hubris by Michael Isikoff and David Corn. I tend to read mostly non-fiction.

I keep trying to read The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay and Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell because both were gifts from my bibliophile sister and they're highly acclaimed. But they both keep boring the crap out of me only a few pages in. I suspect I'm just not in the right frame of mind for them at this time since my patience for fiction in general is really short right now.
