I only know enough german to flavor my english (mom: <inaudible talking from another room>; me: was?, mom: you're sandwich is ready!; me: danke!), and make non-sensical statements (ich bin ein strudel-baum!).

Hehe :). Well, which brings me to the point that "Bulette" is spoken "booh-leh-te" in German, too. And it's a German (originally French, you guessed it ;)) word for "hamburger" :D. This makes the monster "Bulette" especially funny for Germans. "Ooh, you're attacked by a giant hamburger :D!"

Speaking of which, how would the various people here on the boards pronounce my screename? I'd be interested to know...I'll reveal the 'correct' way later...or sooner, if nobody ventures a guess.

I'd probably go with "Gah-leh-ðorn" :D.

about half the people I game with say die-6, die-10
The only person I've ever heard say it that way is a Canadian, so I just figured that was his problem. Heck, he says "aboot" instead of "about" too. And no, I'm not talking about you, Hellhound. I've never heard you say d6, I don't think. :p

Worst strang pronunciation I've seen is this guy who calls Paladins puh-LAH-din

I knew a guy who pronounced it "puh-LID-i-an" , barbarian was "bahl-BEHR-i-in", and kobold was "KAY-bald". Used to drive us nuts.

I won't vote in the poll because there is no option for: "I use both."

I generally use both because they are interchangeable. Does it really matter which way it's pronounced? You can pretty much tell who is an old gamer of DnD when you hear them use the word Die for the dice. The original products used die in the terminology alot more than "D". For me, I usually use "D" for when I'm talking about multiple dice, such as 5d6 or 2d10. I use Die for when I'm talking about a single Die, like "Use a die 20 for doing a skill check".

Honestly... anyone who isn't **** won't really care. Don't like Boo-Lay? Call it a Land Shark. Don't like Drow like a cow, call them Dark Elves..

As in my other postings about drow.. it doesnt matter of course. Ill say drow like grow till i die (or is it dee.. kidding) becuase ive been saying it for almost 25 years that way. I say both dee and die depending on the situation. But in the example i beleive thats used, like 'ok you need to roll a d20 and get a 11 or above' i say dee. shrugs. call it a tatertot for all it matters long as the player understands you. =D oh.. and maybe i want to call them dark elfs and not dark elves *grins* *evil cackle*

I'm in the DEE camp...

The funniest pronunciation we had in a game was when the DM was describing a room...he told us, "There is a brazier filled with burning coals."

Of course, he pronounced it "There is a brassiere filled with burning coals."

The image that conjured ruined the seriousness he was going for ;)

Ga-le-thorn
or if Isa bout ta put me broadest ostrayl-yun accent on: Ga-la-thorn.

Reanjr and Turjan, you both came close; Herremann got it 'close enough' to be right; I pronounce it Ga(same 'a' as in apple)-leh(same 'eh' as in 'let')-thorn(hard TH like in thorp or thor or thorn).

But anyway, back to the main topic...

Interestingly enough, all of the gamers I've ever met say 'dee-six'.
