Deeds Not Words, post your hero ideas

FTracer: As I was looking over the DNW book, I was mentally formulating how an Iron Man character would be created. The powers list would be HUGE. There would have to be a couple of complications that would have to be modified as (recently) Stark needs to have his artificial heart recharged (modification of Dependency?) and he is a recovering alcoholic (another modification of Dependency-has to do a WIL check when around alcohol?).

Basically the run down for classes goes like this:

Adventurer: Fantastic Four
Armor Adept: Iron Man, War Machine
Champion: Captain America, Superman
Martial Artist: Iron Fist
Mercenary: Punisher
Mystic: Dr.Strange
Operative: Nick Fury, Wetworks, James Bond
Playboy: Tony Stark, Bruce Wayne
Psion: Professor X
Rogue: Black Cat, Gambit, Spidy if you want some stealth skills
Savage: Kazar, Cheezed off Wolverine
Sleuth: The Shadow, Batman
Sidekick: Robin, BUCKY NOOO!!!
Tech: Reed Richards, Dr. Doom
Vigilante: Punisher, or anyone using a can of whumparse

Origins:

Human, Mutant, Transgenic(Deathlok), Experiment(Captain America & Wolverine), Avatar(both Captain Marvels for DC and Marvel, Thor when he's bonded with a human, Silver Surfer), Supernatural(Ghost Rider), Channeler(Green Lantern), Aquatic Humanoid(Namor & Aquaman), Superhumanoid(Superman), Xenomundanes( typical "alien"), Xenosupers(super alien), Machine Life: Androids(Vision) & Mechnoids(Ultron), Demi-Divine(Thor & Herc), Template Minor Characters(Robin & Bucky).

Complications: Flaws you can take to meshout your hero and buy extra skills, abilites, etc.
Advantages:explains itself.

For ten bucks you get more than your money's worth and it's superior to all the other d20 supergames out there and coming based on previews/reviews/firsthand reading. Only downside is that it'll probably kill your ink cartiage printing it and not alot of pictures inside but the artwork is great.

As for Iron Man I was thinking about Iron Man from the Ultimates comic. Just starting out but not a total novice. Another disadvantage he now has in his comic and Ultimates is the fact everyone knows he is Iron Man...which at somepoint someone will probably sue him for something. He has alot of powers but I was gonna work him up from the basics; flight/strength/repulsors/unibeam. Down the road he'd have a War Machine armor, Stealth, Space, Undersea, etc, etc. I'd say the more powers the armor has the longer it takes to put on too.

Ack! Another comic I have to read...I was just getting back into Iron Man.

I could see that: an Iron Man character with the "major powers" listed as you said: flight, repulsor rays, force field, strength, uni-beam but then there are the "sub powers" that the armor has: sensors, environmental controls, communications systems, etc. Would make IM interesting without all that stuff, like when he wore the original gold armor. Still, it would be fun to put together.

I was going to look at the writeups from the DC Heroes game for Green Lantern and Iron Man(found online awhile back) to get an idea what to give them. I bought the DC book for 8 bucks at Half Price Books months ago thinking our game group would use it but got shotdown, it's easier just sticking with d20 I reckon. The writeups I had for GL was Kyle and Iron Man(found online) was the suit he just got I think 7? issues ago, looks like a bulky mecha suit, he was fighting Mr.Hyde in it and he thought there was a bomb inside the suit. Ends up the Ghost was pulling his strings...another great villain to writeup. Reason it's gonna take me till next week, one realife is hassling me and my character in Dragonstar got fragged so I need to make a new one.

Experiment(Captain America)

The Captain would be more of a Trangenic Origin, Expiriments; Started as Mutants, Captain started as a normal Human enhanced by Biological means.

Just a heads up.

Peace

Mostly just a bump so this thread doesn't get lost. I should have Iron Man finished by friday or early next week. I've started on him and his armor gets pricey real fast with all the gizmo's in it. Started out just putting together the armor then later firguring out what level of Adept that would cost. Last cost was at 156 armor points and I'd like to keep it lower so he doesn't have to be so high level. I'm going to use the tinkering feat that adds 4 pts but it only goes so far. I'm redoing the armor like it's one of his typical armors. I dropped Force Field since he rarely uses it and it more like Inivisible Woman's type than personal force field. I'll try to make a budget 29 pt armor for a starting hero, old red and gold style hopefully.

Had a few questions but the only one I recall is about Damage Reduction. It says cost is 2 or 3, varies see below. Base DR is improved every 2 ap for 1 DR and it will also improve BDR by 1. So does that mean if I buy 1 DR the BDR will goes up as well by one OR BDR costs 3 for 1?

Jeez..took alot of micro-managing but I finally got it done. I'll post stats for rookie Iron Man late tonight or tomorrow since I'm at work now, just finalized out the point total for his armor. He's 1 Playboy/1 Tech. I'm just making up him at this level and not higher levels since I'll end up playing him from this level when our group starts. His armor is pretty much the Mark 3 armor sans Monobeam and magnet powers. For a picture goto http://www.advancediron.com and check out the armors. He does not have Aerospace mod because in that armor I don't think it flew that far and I had to get in alot for the points I had. I'm not going to add the Tech class to my version since I picked up the Mechnical Genius feat and both Create/Repair Mechanics and Electronics skills. Stark rarely makes other inventions, he usually puts his efforts into the armors but he should have enough in his skills to do whatever he wants. Since he has so many gizmo's in his armor I thought sticking to the Armor Adept would be best to level up in for the armor points.

Oh I love the Ultimates...though after the recent issue he'd have to have some disadvantage like Limited time on Earth or something...*weeps for Tony Stark*

Yeah I got number 6 yesterday, wasn't happy about that either, guess it's more "up-to-date" over a heart problem. I'm sure he'll get it fixed in time, not before it causes him problems. Throw any problem at Stark and he'll beat it. Atleast he's not a kid or mind controled traitor again....although it was cool the Avengers fearing him when they attacked his base. The armor Stark currently has in Ulitmates is probably version 5 or 6, in one of the earlier issues he was talking to Fury there was other armors in the background.
