When an item with a Deeper Darkness spell cast on it is stored in a Glove of Storing does it still shed darkness?

Well, technically, it isn't covered, so it would still shed darkness. I don't think that the stasis effect would temporarily suspend the darkness either. :)

The problem with saying that the Darkness wouldn't be suppressed is that you're opening a can of worms. What about items that need to be in hand for thier powers to function? The only one that currently comes to mind is the pearl of the Sirenes, but I'm sure therre are nastier ones out there...like the Rod of Cats from MoF. Anything like that would then work fine in a glove without costing you the use of your hand. Also, does this mean that the light from a burning torch would still generate light?

But then, I believe that a Glove suspends spell durations, so what do I know?

Hi Thanee,

I do not think the description of the item is clear enough to be certain of an answer to this question, but I would rule that No, the item does not shed Darkness while "stored." For example, I would not allow a paladin's holy avenger sword to emit its spell resistance while so stored either.

I'm in agreement with Taren Seeker on this one on all counts.

Now THAT'S one of the more abusive possibilities I was thinking about. Thanks War Golem.

You can add something like a Warning weapon on to that list. Keep it "in hand" and you get Uncanny Dodge 24/7

I don't see how either of those are abusive at all. In the case of the warning weapon, you spent 8,000gp for a weapon that gives you Uncanny Dodge, but you can't use the weapon unless it's already out of the glove during your turn, which means that you don't threaten an area, which means a spellcaster could launch a lightning bolt while standing right in your face.

Seriously, the gold was spent, the budget took a hit. Personally, I don't see this as a big deal at all.

Perhaps there is a better example someone could site? I'm trying to see this from other people's perspective. :)
