Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country

A worthy choice for the topic and by far my favorite instance of anything Star Trek, but I'm going to have to go for the stand-alone

on this one.

El Mariachi (1992).

Why? Because it showed Hollywood that small, independent movies could make money. It was made for a mere $7000 and it made over $2 million in return. This opened the door for filmmakers like Kevin Smith (Clerks 1994) and Quentin Tarantino (Pulp Fiction 1994).

It also showed Hollywood that these "independents" could make good, quality movie. So people like Peter Jackson and Guillermo del Toro can thank Robert Rodriguez for that.
